Embracing minimalism as a solution

Honestly, I think my family and friends are actually happy with me choosing this minimalist lifestyle 😆

Growing up, I was always the one in the family or in the group of friends who always wanted to get everything or to have what the others had 🙄

It made me feel kind of inferior when someone had something and I didn’t so I’ll try to get it as well to feel better( because my young mind thought that was what it needed to feel good) how shallow of me 😆

When I think back now, I remember different times when I would buy something and my friends would tell me “ Dera, you do not even need this stuff, don’t buy it” but little ole me wouldn’t listen ( as I have coconut head 😂😆) and would still get it, only for it to end up being decoration on my table or in my room.

It wasn’t until a certain period in university, God decided to use this same habit to teach me a lesson 😆

Sooo, we were told to pay for somethings in school and initially I didn’t even have the money for it ( as your girl was constantly broke in school 🙃😌).

I called my siblings ( as the last born I am 🤗) and was able to gather the money.

Now instead of me to use the money and pay for what I needed it for, I let my non minimalist side get the better of me and ended up using the money to buy weavons and clothes 😭. I bought them and was feeling fly about my self, feeling like “I have arrived” thinking I would still be able to get the money again from somewhere to still pay
    for the school necessities.

Ohh was reality about to slap me in the face 🥺, when it got close to the deadline for payment, I started panicking because I didn’t have the money yet 😰( I was sooo scared, I asked my friends and they replied me with” when you bought those clothes and hair, I told you it wasn’t worth it, you didn’t need it at the moment, but you didn’t listen, now see your life, I dont have money oooo better go and sell what you bought to get the money you need”

I ended up selling back every single thing I had bought with the money to be able to pay for what I needed to pay for 😣

It was after this experience that I realized “nna eh Chidera, you waste money too much, on things that don’t make sense and are not even necessary”.

It was also after this situation I found myself in that I came across minimalism and minimalist lifestyle 😁

Mehn!!! This way of living is definitely a breath of fresh air to me and my extravagant lifestyle then.

When I told my friends about my decision to become a minimalist, they where actually happy and went “ hopefully it would stop you from wasting money on unnecessary things, and make you able to prioritize important things in life, thank God oooo” 🤣🤣

Well that’s my own experience in relation to this topic 🤗🤗 till next time fam 😊
