My sleep is less and less restful. This is what the app that constantly measures some of my body functions tells me, such as heart rate, sleep and breathing status, number of steps taken daily, and many more.
The way we sleep, the time we sleep, the type of sleep, and many other such things have become important indicators of health.
Well, the app I'm talking about now tells me that I'm not getting enough rest, that deep sleep, which relaxes the brain, is missing from my nights. What's more, I suffer from apnea, which means my breathing stops during sleep... And there's a risk of it not starting. I mean, I could have the most pleasant way to die. Not that I want to die!
The bottom line is that I don't get enough sleep and I don't have a healthy sleep, which happens to a lot of people, only many people don't know that...
My wife is very sick and sleeps in the next room. Around 4 a.m. she starts coughing and doesn't seem to stop. I get up and go to her to see how I can help. Her eyes and nose were red and her pajamas were wet with sweat, she was sitting in the middle of the bed coughing. I helped her get another pair of pajamas, some medicine plus a nose spray. Fortunately, the coughing stopped and she went back to sleep.
I went back to my bed. It was already 4:30 a.m., but sleep had already run away. Even if my sleep was not good, I didn't suffer from insomnia.
I tried to fall asleep again but failed. Because I don't like my eyes wide open and staring at the ceiling, I picked up the phone to read some news.
About sports and my favorite football team, about politics...
Strangely, although I got stressed and upset, especially because of politics and the specter of an announced disaster for my country, and implicitly for me and most of my fellow countrymen, I slipped into sleep slowly and without realizing it.
The building where I was working was in a total mess, a rearrangement of the offices and spaces, according to a new ergonomic design, a real modernization.
The fact that this work was being done at the same time that we, the employees, were there was strange again. We would move from one office to another, new, unfamiliar coworkers would show up, and workers would repair walls, change furniture, and move in all directions. All this gave an image of a hustle and bustle, but it was controlled, because no one was being hit and no one was upset about the disturbance. I met many familiar faces but I was puzzled that these people were together, because I knew they lived in different cities.
I left the office and was surprised to discover that it was night and that the city where I live, Bucharest, had sloping streets. It's true that it's a big city, more than half of which I've never seen before, but it's a city built on flat land, without any big bumps, and yet, I found myself in the situation of walking down a steep street at night.
It was a bright moonlit night, and I was walking down an unfamiliar street, not only that, but the buildings were strange, they seemed from another, older age. The street was so steep that it resembled the bed of a mountain river that emptied into a lake. The end of the street could be seen in the distance because there was light there, a bright light and a dull rumbling grew louder the closer I got. It wasn't a noise, it was a muffled sound, at first unintelligible, but then slowly, slowly it turned into music...A rock concert!
I saw a band I had never seen live before, that went very well with the moonlit night: "Man in the Moon"(Om la Luna).

I wasn't paying too much attention to the music and what was happening on the stage I was close to because something strange was happening in the sky. Strange and colorful lights were moving rapidly across the sky as a dark backdrop against which clusters of white clouds glided, as if in a dance. Then the clouds moved aside and a large golden letter "D", the color of the sun, appeared in the black sky.
My name is Dan.
The letter D could stand for my name in the sky, but why should it? What qualifies me for such an honor? Nothing, of course, and I remembered that in history I learned about Emperor Constantine the Great of the Byzantine Empire, who also saw a sign in the sky...
According to the Christian historians Eusebius and Lactantius, on the eve of the battle with Maxentius, Constantine saw in the sky at high noon that day a luminous cross above the sun with the inscription "In hoc signo vinces" = "By this sign you shall conquer".

Of course, I cannot compare myself to an emperor, but this similarity of situations made me realize that the big letter "D" in the sky means something else. In Romanian, God is Dumnezeu, so it starts with the letter "D"!
When I realized that I woke up. I rarely remember what I dreamt at night, even though I know I dreamt it. Probably this time I woke up while I was dreaming because this dream remained very clear in my mind.
A dream like a surrealist movie!
I kept thinking about this long and strange dream and every time I recalled the events recounted here I had a strange sense of tranquility and a feeling that I had seen something special.
I'm not a mystic, on the contrary, I'm as critical as I can be of my Orthodox Christian religion. The dream that I told you about was the most interesting and moving that I have ever had, because it made me think about something, about a great mystery of humanity, regardless of religion, but especially for Christians.
I repeat myself, I have replayed this dream in my mind several times and each time I felt that it is realistic but that something is different from real life.
Then I understood.
The dream world was the same as my world, with one small difference. A small difference that makes a difference. I didn't see or feel violence and hatred. Then I thought that maybe this is heaven, that our life goes on after death in an identical world, but where there are no such bad feelings, hatred, and violence.
I hope so, I am pretty close to finding out if my hypothesis is true. Or maybe not.
