Being in the teaching profession is loving and very exhausting at the same time, you can imagine talking, talking and talking for several minutes explaining a particular lesson to your learners and at the end of the whole explanations you ask the learners "did you understand" and almost half of the class chorused NO ma, can you kindly explain again......omg...it will be as if the ground should swallow someone because within you, you felt you've done justice to the topic but the learners didn't understand a single thing from your explanations.
The energy used earlier can never be regained but you don't have a choice than to explain again to them for better understanding. So it's quite easy to work myself out while discharging my duties in my workplace.
Sometimes Mondays and Tuesdays are hectic for me because within both days, new topics are being introduced to the learners and you have to be as explicit as possible so that they can understand whatever you are teaching them. Teaching is very demanding but one would just look for a way to avoid workload burnout to prevent breaking down
I'm not a workaholic person at all because almost every time I look forward to the holiday so that I will have my me-time, I love treating myself nicely......abeg who no want better things. But I take my work with all seriousness, I hate to be caught lagging behind in whatever task that I'm been given. I multitask a lot and I enjoy it with everything in me.
But the body sometimes asks for rest, once I notice that my system isn't responding effectively to a day's work, I will withdraw myself from anything stressful at work and relax on my chair, though the chair is not that comfortable but it's still manageable and I'll be looking forward to the closing hour so as to go home on time to freshening up and calm my nerves.
To avoid workload burnout, I do my work in the school. I don't take leftover work to my house at all. School work is for the school while the home is for other things.
Taking leftover work home will prevent me from enjoying my me-time, so to avoid that, I do everything possible to finish up my work in school before going home. I find it difficult to take naps, so the only way I rest is by playing games, watching K-drama or listening to cool music.
Once I'm able to do any of the mentioned activities then I'm good. I usually do everything within my power to have both my phone and power bank charged. Once that is done my leisure time will be fun filled.
Apart from resting and doing my job at work, I ask for help from my other colleague. They help me solve challenging tasks, no one is an island of knowledge, so once I feel I'm unable to find a solution to a task, I will ask my colleague for help and luckily for me I work with loving individuals they always rally round to help me to lighten my workload.
Therefore, everyone must know their selves and strike a balance in all activities they engage in so that they won't burnout and be rendered useless.
