This time of the year awakens the creative spirit of many. Hundreds of allegorical handicrafts can be found in the markets that take place in almost every country in the northern hemisphere of the planet. We have been able to appreciate beautiful creations shared by many hivers, whether found in these fairs or made by themselves, each one inspires and spreads the Christmas spirit.
Under the influence of that energy today I bring you a little light. Recycling creatively I present this tutorial. It's a Christmas bottle that I made to give to a friend and I'm sharing it with you as my entry to the contest launched this month by the community DIYHub.
I like these projects where I recycle materials. Generally everything I do has some recycled element, usually cardboard, but today I bring you some glass.
We all have some nice empty bottle at home, so the main element will be very easy to find. The rest will depend on the creativity of each one of us, so let's get to work.

Esta etapa del año despierta el espíritu creativo de muchos. Cientos de artesanías alegóricas se pueden encontrar en los mercadillos que se realizan en casi todos los países del hemisferio norte del planeta. Hemos podido apreciar hermosas creaciones compartidas por muchos hivers, ya sean encontradas en esas ferias o realizadas por ellos mismos, cada una inspira y contagia el espíritu navideño.
Bajo el influjo de esa energía hoy les traigo un poco de luz. Reciclando creativamente les presento este tutorial. Es una botella navideña que hice para regalar a una amiga y se los compararto como mi entrada al concurso lanzado este mes por la comunidad DIYHub.
Me gustan estos proyectos donde reciclo materiales. Generalmente todo lo que hago tiene algún elemento reciclado, por lo general es cartón, pero hoy les traigo algo de vidrio.
Todos tenemos alguna linda botella vacía en casa, así que el elemento principal será muy fácil de encontrar. Lo demás, dependerá de la creatividad de cada cual, así que manos a la obra.
I will need:
- An empty bottle, clean and dry inside
- White acrylic paint
- Gold ribbon 30 cm
- White Christmas stickers
- Some artificial pine branches
- Cork with led lights to illuminate the bottle
- White thread, wooden beads with gold glitter.
- Scissors
- Glue
- Heat gun
Necesitaré:
- Una botella vacía, limpia y seca por dentro
- Pintura acrílica blanca
- Cinta dorada de 30 cm
- Pegatinas navideñas blancas
- Una rama de pino artificial
- Corcho con luces led para iluminar la botella
- Hilo blanco, cuentas de madera con purpurina dorada
- Tijeras
- Pegamento
- Pistola de calor
The first thing I will do is to paint the bottom and top of the bottle white. For that I will use a sponge and I will paint with small strokes the desired surface. The bottom part I will delimit it with a masking tape so that it is straight. For the upper part it will not be necessary to do the same. In my case I did not have this tape and I used a decorative one that served me for the same purpose.
Lo primero que haré será pintar la parte inferior y superior de la botella de color blanco. Para eso utilizaré una esponja e iré pintando con pequeños golpes la superficie deseada. La parte de abajo la delimitaré con una cinta de enmascarar para que quede recta. Para la de arriba no será necesario hacer lo mismo. En mi caso no tenía esta cinta y utilicé una decorativa que me sirvió para el mismo objetivo.
Once the paint is dry, I will start gluing the stickers on the line at the bottom. I will distribute them in such a way that it looks harmonious. Then I will put small flakes all over the remaining area, without loading too much. An important detail is to apply hot air to our stickers so that they adhere strongly to the glass. It can be with a heat gun or simply with a hair dryer, whatever you have at home. To cover any detail and add some color to the decoration, I will glue all around and following the line, the golden ribbon.
Una vez seca la pintura comenzaré a pegar los stickers sobre la línea de la parte inferior. Los distribuiré de manera tal que quede armónico. Después pondré pequeños copos por toda el área restante, sin cargar demasiado. Un detalle importante es aplicar aire caliente a nuestros stickers para que se adhieran fuertemente al cristal. Puede ser con una pistola de calor o simplemente con una secadora de pelo, lo que tengan en casa. Para tapar cualquier detalle y añadir algo de color a la decoración, pegaré a todo el rededor y siguiendo la línea, la cinta dorada.
Now that the bottom part is ready, it's time to add a small detail to the neck of the bottle. With the white thread I will make 4 or 5 turns and tie a knot. The golden beads will go on the ends of the string and a small branch covering the knot.
Ya con la parte de abajo lista, toca añadir un pequeño detalle en el cuello de la botella. Con el hilo blanco daré 4 o 5 vueltas y anudaré. Las cuentas doradas irán en los cabos del cordel y una pequeña rama tapando el nudo.
Finally I will put the cork in the spout of the bottle, previously I painted it with the same technique to achieve a visual coherence. I put the lights inside, capped, turned on and...the LIGHT was made.
Por último pondré el corcho en el pico de la botella, previamente lo pinté con la misma técnica para conseguir una coherencia visual. Introduje las luces en el interior, tapé, encendí y...se hizo la LUZ.
