🦉 The Oriental turtle dove or rufous turtle dove (Streptopelia orientalis)
- Streptopelia Greek: streptos necklace, collar, peleia turtle dove
- orientalis eastern

I am haunted by some strange coincidence. As soon as some bird is listed by local scientists in the regional Red Book as a rare species, I meet these birds in the forest more often. This was the case with the rustic bunting and this wild pigeon.

All I know about it is information from books, because I myself have observed this bird only a few times and then for a short time. Yes, the bird is shy, which is confusing, since we are used to seeing pigeons walking under our feet.
