Hold On ...

Last week, I came across a brilliant initiative by @ericvancewalton called #memoirmonday .
This initiative intrigued me and I made my first post regarding that week's question.
This week's question though is a little bit tough and tiring to write about -well plenty personal questions are..

What are some of your favorite memories about your Father..

Not in context to the post but it's such a pretty picture :D

Me and my father had never been close. His work as an offshore engineer when I was still an infant kind of aided in him missing that prime bonding experience when the child is 2 - 6 years of age.
Coupled with his huge temper and ravenous appetite, it's almost always a hassle being around him.

Especially since I'm the one who he mostly calls on for errands. Only sons suffer a lot😭😭😭

His job kept him away for most of my teen years too, at least until I was fifteen and he was let off, then he became a more permanent figure in my life.
An only boy with three girls and now with suddenly a lot of time on his hand, my dad wanted to make those memories of it's the last thing he does.
I just simply wanted to stay lazy and sleep😭 😂

We went to a whole lot of places, he embarrassed me in seventy percent of those places. His huge voice needed no microphone when he wanted to order in a restaurant or reprimand me when I made a silly mistake.

It became even worse as I entered the university, going after the same major as him. The Engineers... His pride and joy had no bounds😂.
I was happy too, until the pressure came, hearing talks of how he was the smartest, had A's, headed projects, corrected the lecturers... While I'm still struggling to stay awake during 8am lectures😂

I've read a few other people's posts on this as they talk about their father's memories and habits.
Well, I really can't relate with going to the games nor playing ball.

    He doesn't even like sports😂😂

But like everyone I still have some good memories of my dad.
Like the way he vigorously haggles prices in the equipment stores, his loud voice booming and resonating across the metals as he dishes himself unreasonable discounts for a metal pipe or a sparkplug for the generator.
The seller would lean back, intimidated by his huge size and even bigger voice, I'll lean even further back because the prices he calls are simply criminal.

There are still the times we visit family and there's the usual debate on various topics. That's were his social skills comes in. Winning the debate with no valid point but a huge sway on the public due to the jokes mixed in with his invalid points.

Well, he's kind of an all round man, heavy heavy eater, funny and sociable person, who I still have a lot to learn from. As much as it'll trouble me so, I hope he'll stay long enough to keep on teaching me.

I listened to this song recently and it touched me.
I know the artist Shawn Mendes for singing love songs but like always there's a time when creation would take you outside your niche.
This song just seemed perfect for the question of this week and well it gave me a little boost to write about it.

So that's all folks. Memoire Monday is a new initiative started by @ericvancewalton.
    It's barely a month old!!
