Catching this hawk in flight at a distance that I could make out its features was a treat of an experience. I often will see them soaring high overhead, but generally its just a bit to much out of range for me to make out any details. This one was in a much better range, and I could follow along without losing where it was flying. The large wing span revealed its colorful patterns on the wings as it continued to coast through the air before eventually it went off into the distance.
