Simple Pencil Holder For Kids

in voilk •  5 months ago

Hello Hive Learners Community, Happy Sunday to everyone on Hive.

Last week, I shared a post on how to make a phone holder that can serve as a pen holder as well. My mom picked interest in it and I had to give it to her but something came up.

One of her customers who I know very well wanted just the pen holder for her grandchild and when mom told me about it, I was happy that someone outside Hive also appreciated my simple invention. I thought of a simple pencil holder case and made one for the little girl.

The expression on her face was priceless and she didn't stop staring at the cat head I attached to the pencil case.

    Material used.

    Carton
    Cardboard
    Glue

How to make the simple pencil holder

I started by cutting the carton into the size that I needed.

I needed a square for the base and four rectangular shapes that would sit on the base.

After cutting them out, I realized that the carton was too light and might get damaged quickly since the girl is still young; she might not be able to maintain it well.

I cut out another four rectangular shapes and a square to double the thickness of the pencil case.

I applied glue on the surface of all the cartons that I had cut out and joined them together to form thick cards.

I joined the rectangular cards together to make a rectangular box with open ends.

After joining the box, I decided to make little designs on it to cover all the edges. I cut out rectangular shapes on the cardboard, it's not too big because I just needed them to cover the edges.

After cutting them out, I applied glue to cover the four edges of the rectangular box.

The top of the rectangular box also needed a cover so I cut out four pieces of cardboard again to cover the top edges of the rectangular box.

The box is looking different now so I thought of another design to step up the look.

I love cats and the thought of it crossed my mind so I cut out the shapes I needed to make the cat.

I used cartons and cardboard just to make the design strong.

I joined the pieces together and got a cat. It's not perfect but very manageable.

I rubbed some glue on the back of the cat and placed it on the body of the box.

Finally, I applied glue on the bottom of the rectangular box and carefully placed it on the square card.

I felt like keeping this for myself but I already made a promise so I will make another one for myself.

It's beautiful and simple, I hope you love it too.
