Como comenté en mi presentación, soy estudiante de la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) en Caracas, Venezuela. Esta universidad es reconocida por su excelencia y por las diversas actividades que ofrece a sus estudiantes dentro del campus.
Hace casi un año decidí dar un paso adelante para ampliar mi vida universitaria. Seguramente se preguntarán ¿por qué? Uno de los objetivos de la UCAB es que sus estudiantes no solo se desarrollen en su carrera, sino que aprovechen el campus para adquirir habilidades y conocimientos más allá de ella. Esto les permite ser profesionales integrales que se desenvuelven en distintos ámbitos y aportan a la mejora de su entorno.
Esta fue la principal razón por la que decidí unirme a AIESEC en Venezuela, una organización que está presente en algunos campus universitarios de Venezuela y otras universidades en 119 países y territorios y que me ofrecía desarrollar mi liderazgo y hacer networking. Debo confesar que soy una persona bastante tímida y rutinaria, por lo que actividades como exponer, hablar en público, socializar y hacer cosas nuevas me resultaban difíciles. No es que ahora sean fáciles, pero definitivamente ya no me dan tanto pánico como hace 10 meses.
Un poquito de historia
He mencionado AIESEC y su presencia global, pero no he explicado qué es, de dónde salió, cómo se fundó o qué hacemos. Responderé a estas preguntas antes de contarles mi experiencia en la organización.
AIESEC es una organización global apolítica y sin fines de lucro, formada por jóvenes de entre 18 y 30 años de todo el mundo. Sus miembros estamos principalmente interesados en temas globales como los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible, apuntando hacia la paz mediante tres pilares: interculturalidad, liderazgo y desarrollo profesional. En AIESEC, los jóvenes desarrollamos nuestras capacidades a través de programas internos de membresía, donde fomentamos el liderazgo, o programas de intercambio para realizar prácticas profesionales o voluntariados en el extranjero.
AIESEC se originó después de la Primera Guerra Mundial, en 1914. Un grupo de jóvenes de diferentes nacionalidades se dio cuenta de que la única manera de lograr la paz y un cambio que permitiera a la sociedad avanzar era uniéndose y trabajando juntos, dejando de lado sus diferencias étnicas y culturales. Sin embargo, no fue hasta 1930 que representantes de varias universidades en diferentes partes de Europa intercambiaron información sobre programas y universidades especializadas en economía y negocios, dando inicio a los intercambios que conocemos hoy en día. AIESEC es tan grande que personajes famosos como Mick Jagger, Bill Clinton, Eglantina Zingg, Sir Paul David Hewson (Bono) han sido parte de la organización en distintos países.
Mi experiencia
Yo entré a AIESEC el 11 de marzo de 2023, optando por su programa de membresía. Este me ofrecía no solo mejorar o adquirir habilidades, sino potenciar mi liderazgo a través de diversas actividades que me permitirían tomar nuevos retos y desarrollarme como persona y profesional. En estos últimos 10 meses he probado alrededor de diez roles de liderazgo, todos con diferente duración. En ellos he adquirido las siguientes habilidades:
- Establecer y mantener conexiones con diversas entidades para la promoción adecuada de las actividades y proyectos de AIESEC.
- Desarrollar estrategias online y offline para aumentar la visibilidad de la agrupación.
- Identificar a los grupos de interés para el posicionamiento local.
- Mapear contactos para establecer relaciones que beneficien a ambas partes.
- Coordinar y organizar eventos que involucran no solo al comité de AIESEC en el que participo, sino a los 3 comités de Caracas y los otros 3 comités a nivel nacional en Carabobo, Barquisimeto y Maracaibo.
- Liderar equipos organizadores de eventos para aproximadamente 50 personas o más.
Estas son solo algunas de las cosas en las que AIESEC me ha brindado la oportunidad de desarrollarme como persona y profesional. Me he convertido en alguien más extrovertida, con menos miedo a lo nuevo y dispuesta a tomar riesgos. He aprendido que tanto las experiencias buenas como las malas pueden ser fuente de valiosas anécdotas y enseñanzas.
He tenido el placer de compartir con diferentes personas a nivel nacional e internacional que han compartido sus conocimientos y experiencias dentro de AIESEC con los miembros venezolanos. Sin duda, puedo decir con orgullo que estoy feliz de formar parte de esta hermosa familia y de la decisión que tomé hace 10 meses, cuando me encontraba en un momento de incertidumbre en mi vida.
Pero… ¿Por qué les cuento esto?
Lo hago porque creo que mi experiencia puede motivar a cualquiera que esté leyendo esto y cumpla con los requisitos para tomar una membresía o participar en un programa de intercambio con AIESEC.
Actualmente, AIESEC se encuentra en la fase de reclutamiento para su programa de membresía. Este periodo de reclutamiento permanecerá abierto hasta el 9 de febrero. El programa de membresía te brindará la oportunidad de desarrollar diversas habilidades, como las que mencioné anteriormente, y muchas otras. Por lo tanto, si eres joven, tienes entre 18 y 30 años, te encuentras en una etapa de incertidumbre sobre tu futuro, quieres desarrollarte como un buen líder, deseas potenciar tu CV o simplemente sientes curiosidad por AIESEC, te invito a que te registres en AIESEC. Te aseguro que podrás probar cosas nuevas mientras te diviertes y haces amigos. Sin importar en qué estado de Venezuela te encuentres o a qué universidad asistas, puedes completar tu solicitud para AIESEC.

Dear community, I've been away from Hive for a while, but I'm back and this time I want to tell you what I've been doing in the last months.
As I mentioned in my presentation, I'm a student at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) in Caracas, Venezuela. This university is recognized for its excellence and for the diverse activities it offers to its students on campus.
Almost a year ago I decided to take a step forward to expand my university life. You're probably wondering why? One of the objectives of UCAB is that its students not only develop in their career, but also take advantage of the campus to acquire skills and knowledge beyond it. This allows them to be well-rounded professionals who develop in different areas and contribute to the improvement of their environment.
This was the main reason why I decided to join AIESEC in Venezuela, an organization that is present in some university campuses in Venezuela and other universities in 119 countries and territories and that offered me to develop my leadership and networking. I must confess that I'm a rather shy and routine person, so activities such as exhibiting, public speaking, socializing and doing new things were difficult for me. Not that they're easy now, but I definitely don't panic as much as I did 10 months ago.
A little bit of history
I've mentioned AIESEC and its global presence, but I haven't explained what it's, where it came from, how it was founded or what we do. I will answer these questions before I tell you about my experience in the organization.
AIESEC is a global non-profit, non-political organization made up of young people between the ages of 18 and 30 from around the world. Its members are mainly interested in global issues such as the Sustainable Development Goals, aiming for peace through three pillars: interculturality, leadership and professional development. In AIESEC, young people develop their skills through internal membership programs, where we encourage leadership, or exchange programs for internships or volunteering abroad.
AIESEC originated after World War I in 1914. A group of young people of different nationalities realized that the only way to achieve peace and change that would allow society to move forward was to unite and work together, putting aside their ethnic and cultural differences. However, it was not until 1930 that representatives from various universities in different parts of Europe exchanged information about programs and universities specializing in economics and business, giving birth to the exchanges we know today. AIESEC is so big that celebrities such as Mick Jagger, Bill Clinton, Eglantina Zingg, Sir Paul David Hewson (Bono) have been part of the organization.
My experience
I joined AIESEC on March 11, 2023, opting for its membership program. It offered me not only to improve or acquire skills, but to enhance my leadership through various activities that would allow me to take on new challenges and develop as a person and professional. In these last 10 months I've tried around ten leadership roles, all with different duration. In them I've acquired the following skills:
- Establish and maintain connections with various entities for the proper promotion of AIESEC activities and projects.
- Develop online and offline strategies to increase the visibility of the group.
- Identify stakeholders for local positioning.
- Map contacts to establish mutually beneficial relationships.
- Coordinate and organize events that involve not only the AIESEC committee in which I participate, but the 3 committees in Caracas and the other 3 committees at the national level in Carabobo, Barquisimeto and Maracaibo.
- Lead teams organizing events for approximately 50 people or more.
These are just some of the things that AIESEC has given me the opportunity to develop as a person and professional. I've become more outgoing, less afraid of the new and willing to take risks. I've learned that both good and bad experiences can be a source of valuable anecdotes and lessons.
I've had the pleasure of sharing with different people at a national and international level who have shared their knowledge and experiences within AIESEC with the Venezuelan members. Without a doubt, I can proudly say that I'm happy to be part of this beautiful family and of the decision I made 10 months ago, when I was in a moment of uncertainty in my life.
But... Why do I tell you this?
I do so because I believe my experience can motivate anyone reading this who meets the requirements to take a membership or participate in an exchange program with AIESEC.
AIESEC is currently in the recruitment phase for its membership program. This recruitment period will remain open until February 9th. The membership program will provide you with the opportunity to develop various skills, such as those I mentioned above, and many others. So, if you're young, between 18 and 30 years old, you are in a stage of uncertainty about your future, you want to develop yourself as a good leader, you want to boost your CV or you're just curious about AIESEC, I invite you to register in AIESEC. I assure you that you will get to try new things while having fun and making friends. No matter what state in Venezuela you're in or what university you attend, you can complete your AIESEC application.
