Last week's theme was SPS DAO and I am happy to say that I was one of the featured artists. Happy also to see some of my friends on the list.😊 Just make sure to check the rules so that your art will be included in the judging stage. We artists are so used to the regular theme, and it's back! 😁
For this week, I chose Prophet Rosa. ✨
Art Process
The pose I was planning to make is she is holding the little drum and the beating stick. Since she is a "prophet" I thought of putting a religion element on the background which is a torri, a Japanese gate commonly found on the entrance to a shrine.
I then traced my sketch using a solid brush. I was contemplating if I should add the floating circlet on the forehead. I skipped that idea for now. to show more of the hair.
Next is filling the spaces with colors. I used the color-picker tool to get the exact shades and then adjusted the saturation. I compiled the separate layers of the base colors and worked on the hard shadow. In this stage, I also colored the background torii.
After applying the hard shadows, I added the soft shadows by using the airbrush. I used different shades to highlight elements. Next, apply the shine using flat brush and blur brush. At this stage, the character itself is finished. Now, for the background.
Final Art
I thought of blurring the background to make the character elevated. I applied some puffs on the background as clouds. Another element is the sakura petals as if falling from the tree. I had to blur the petals to show that they were in motion. Lastly, I added a noise filter.
