I heard a colleague of mine saying I am silently rich. This was a funny statement and when I asked why she called me that, she said she observed that I don't want to reveal who I am to them but to do things codedly.
As that statement sounds funny to me, it holds a great meaning too because even though I try to be generous, which is part of my lifestyle, I plan to keep up with this attitude even if I am rich in the future. Some people would say I am stingy, I don't mind because this life is a delicate one and you shouldn't be sharing your finances with everyone as you don't know who is who. Some people will want to be envious of you and do something drastic because they aren't happy with what you have and can afford.
There was a day last month when someone like a mother called my attention to something and told me never to reveal my financial capacity to anyone because not everyone wants the best for me. A few people got to know my plan of getting an apartment and saw how much the rent fee is, thought it was too high for me considering the amount the federal government would be paying me monthly, little did they know it was something I have planned for a long time which made it easier to pay the rent and not complain about it.
One thing about me is that I don't like a flamboyant lifestyle nor do I fake what is not, but I have heard some people thinking I have enough in my bank account and just living that silent life of not revealing who I am to others. The truth is that I am also like a normal being who is trying hard to live a simple life and this is something I have come to learn.
That statement has stuck in my heart that even in the future, I don't want public recognition of my wealth. I want to live a simple life where I don't need to show that I am wealthy. I don't want to live that life where I would be a threat to those who are silently planning on executing me in my prime. My sister would tell me to be careful of what I post online, especially when it comes to revealing my finances. Life should be tread upon gently and one of the reasons some people die being wealthy is that they have exposed themselves to the world that they are now targeting where they want to extort money from them.
I have come to realise that when you tell people or show them your worth, they will want to take advantage of that and you wouldn't want to back out or tell them you aren't what you told them you were before. This is the beginning of hatred because they start seeing you as a liar and an oppressor. This is why in this life, you must be careful with your financial status. Don't spend too much when around people because the heart is deep and wicked, no one can search the other person's heart to know the kind of evil plan they are working on you. Keep your money to yourself. Keep your plan regarding finance to yourself.
Imagine telling your friend who is hungry that you need to purchase an expensive item, he or she would feel you are making a mockery of him or her and it would only take the patience and gentle spirit of such a person not to harm you. I remember when a friend came to borrow money from me but I politely declined that I did not have it, and that was the truth. That same day, my sister whom I already discussed something regarding money sent me the exact money which I wasn't expecting. Now, I already told my friend I do not have money and here is my sister sending an amount which was for an urgent purpose.
I used the money to get what I wanted and my friend, knowing about this, got angry and didn't tell me. It was later the next day she reported me to our third friend and the statement she made shocked me and made me extra careful when it comes to money issues with people. She said if not that she was a good person and if it was someone else, they would have hurt me. I never believed what I heard but it taught me a great lesson that day.
Be mindful of how you spend money, especially around your poor friend. Don't expose your financial status to anyone except the ones you have trusted so well. Learn to keep things simple and if you must spend extravagantly, do it alone or around the same circle as you. Doing this might pose a threat to you. Be careful of people.
Yesterday, I almost forgot about LPUD, not until a friend asked when the initiative would start. We are in the half of the month already and it made me wonder how February came and is almost ending.
