With Or Without You

I'm not sure when my Hyacinth bulbs learned to sing this song... you know, the one by the band U2 - With or Without You, because it was definitely the one they performed today.

I should bring here the song in its original form as I can't grant you would like the plant version, there could be some alterations as sometimes they inhale the smoke of another plant, coming from the balcony of one of my neighbours... And we need this post to be more organized and balanced than the bulb version of the song would be, as I will also tell you a story my son told me... So, yeah, music first, as I promised:

    Story my son told me

Last night when my son and I were heading to a store, just before it closed, he started to talk about the composer Hector Berlioz. His curiosity about the composers and their works is quite strong; the teacher of the history of music seems to have a good influence on him. So, yesterday he was reading about Hector and his symphony, Symphonie fantastique, when it was written and who was the inspiring muse of this work. He also talked about the hallucinogenic substances this composer used and his obsessive, self-destructive passion for a woman - the one who inspired the symphony. This composer felt he could not live without that person.

    Hyacinth bulbs

While I was gardening a bit this morning, to bring back some sunshine to my thoughts and be useful to my plants, I found a surprise. It turned out I had two Hyacinth bulbs, that I completely, but completely forgot that I had them. They were stored among the empty plant pots... I took out everything to clean and there was that music, the song by U2. I mean, the surprise and their statement that they could live without me for one year and survive!

They are alive and started to sprout. One bulb has just the green part, the body. The other one showed a tiny part of the flowers too. Look:

Now I rescued them from the darkness of the storage box and brought them up to the light. Here are both of them but I need to give you instructions on how to look at this photo. So, read and apply:

Dear readers, please, pretend that both bulbs can be seen well and that there are no blurry parts of the photo. Thank you and enjoy the view.

Ok, I know it is silly, the instruction, so here is a bit better view of the second Hyacinth. I have no clue which colour the flowers will be. Maybe purple or pink. Hopefully, we will see it in some weeks :))

    Chocolate, anyone?

Time to celebrate this surprise and the willingness my forgotten Hyacinth bulbs had, to live and survive even without me and my care. Ferrero Rocher is a good option, I think.
