Jack-Lina Of All Trades, Not Literally

I’ve always had a business mind since I was a kid and I have done so many businesses.Talk of laundry, cleaning, so many. Ah! I just had flashbacks of when I used to do laundry for my brothers. I would wash their clothes and get paid but then they’ll only realize later that the clothes I washed have even become more dirtier than they were before. Talk of ironing? They would pay me to iron their shirt only to come back to meet a more crumpled shirt. I promise I really don’t know how those things used to happen but what’s important is that I was very rich at that time from those businesses.

I mean…., my only clients were my brothers but I was making it big in life at that age(10 years). If only I knew about financial literacy, I would have had two cars then. I know people will laugh but that’s fine.I eventually started my crochet business and oh boy! I was swimming in money. Fast forward to when I updated my skills. I started learning how to fry egg and eventually came to really like frying . From frying egg to chicken to fish. I didn’t even know when it was cooked, I just got fascinated by the whole transformation.

Sometimes they got burnt, sometimes they were alright, the most important part was there was frying.
Funny enough I didn’t know how to cook an entire meal but the frying part was something I could manage.
In level 300, I started this business in my hostel. My job was just to fry your “fryables”(whether fish, chicken, plantain or anything) for you so you keep it in your fridge or wherever. Then anytime you are ready to cook, all you would need to do is use it straightforward to make whatever food you’re making. As time went on, I also started making breakfast for students because that’s actually something I’m so good at.

I realized most students were always in a hurry to go to class so they would just skip breakfast and go to class hungry. They would be feeling hungry throughout the lecture with barely 10% concentration. Talk of oats with bread and fried eggs, or baked beans and sausage with milo, anything at all. I actually even had some regular students that could even make a whole month payment for the breakfast service. It then got to a time where I couldn’t track the finances of the business.

I later realized I had been running at a loss for a very long time. I really was always getting sold out but there was nothing to show for. I was not separating my personal money from my business money and that was why I couldn’t see the loss. It felt like I had just wasted my time and resources. I was also getting behind in academics which was so unlike me. Eventually, I ended the business.

Sometimes when I sit down and calculate a lot of things, I really should be having a BMW from that business but it’s fine, I know I’ll get it from another thing.
