This year, I've only ever joined one marathon- a short 6km run/walk at Cebu Business Park. One of my struggles in joining a fun run is not really the running part, but the part where I have to wake up at 3am in the morning, find a Grab taxi, and making sure i spot my peers in the sea of people in the venue.
When Ben's cousin invited us for a fun run a few months back, the thought of the activity excited me. I made sure to train in the treadmill at least once a week and bought some sports wear online as my preparation to a more active lifestyle. However, the night before the marathon, we had a company event, which allowed me to have only an hour of sleep- oops I miscalculated this phenomenon. But the fun in the run must go on.
We arrived at the venue 30 minutes earlier from the gun start. So we were able to claim our snacks in the booth and watched runners stretch their legs. Some also joined zumba.
This is Julie of Julie's Bakeshop, one of the major sponsors of the event.
There were also Dagan Cebu merchandise like caps, mugs, and water bottle for sale in the venue that serves as a souvenir of the event.
When the run started, we decided to keep a slow continuous pace until the end of the race. Our motivation was to receive the finisher medal at the finish line. There are water breaks in between too. Another sponsor of this event is Pocari Sweat.
Its so easy to stay unmotivated especially in this early morning but some people cheering on runners makes a huge difference. Im not sure if they're paid for doing this or it's all for humanity's sake. But it's a nice concept.
At last, we finished the race on time!
After the run, people started to fall in line to claim their freebies and post run meals. We then proceed to sit in the field.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
