Hello to all Splinterlands friends!!!
Monsters with magical attacks have always been the most flexible and versatile in the world of Splinterlands because they can attack from any position, and their hits pierce through Armor points, directly impacting the opponent's Health.
So, especially for beginners (but I have to admit I went through a similar phase), there may be a tendency to always deploy teams with all magical monsters, hoping to win through sheer attack power rather than strategy.
One classic example is the formation with the summoner Obsidian and Earth element magical monsters, which was very common until recently but is not as popular now because players have figured out how to successfully defend against such a team.
Instead, it's much better to build a more balanced team with monsters having different attacks and abilities, and that's what we'll see in this week's Battle Mage Secrets Challenge!!!
Counterspell: all monsters on the field have the Magic Reflect ability, meaning they reflect half of the received magical attack. We can deploy magical monsters, but it's better if they have abilities like Void that can negate the Magic Reflect effect (one example is Djinn Oshannus).

An excellent Mana Cap of 55, with the rulesets Even Stevens and Fog of War, in addition to Counterspell: this limits us quite a bit in the choice of cards, as we can only choose those with an even mana cost, and our monsters cannot use the Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity abilities.
And here is the battlefield:
A new team for me, I'm starting to use cards from the Rebellion edition: I chose Astral Entity as the summoner, which, with its Resurrect ability, brings one of my monsters back to life during the battle. Then, I placed Cursed Windeku with its annoying Thorns ability in the Tank position, followed by Will-o-Wisp, Supply Runner, Raa, Ravenhood Warden, and Helheim Demon as a "lightning rod" with its Taunt ability.
On the other hand, my opponent chose Possibilus the Wise as the summoner, and in the first position, placed a monster without an attack, Baakjira, followed by Arkemis the Bear, Djinn Oshannus, Demented Shark, Supply Runner, and Wave Brood.
A very balanced challenge, my opponent chose an interesting strategy by deploying magical monsters with the Void ability, which indeed nullified the Counterspell ruleset. However, my winning move was definitely choosing cards with a heavy Ranged attack, especially Raa, which with its Double Strike and 3 attack points managed to destroy the enemy defenses.

I mostri con attacco magico sono sempre stati i più duttili e versatili nel mondo di Splinterlands, perchè possono attaccare da qualsiasi posizione e i loro colpi trapassano i punti Armor e vanno a colpire direttamente la Health dell'avversario.
Quindi, specialmente ai principianti, ma devo ammettere che anche io ho avuto una fase simile, può venire voglia di schierare sempre e comunque squadre con tutti mostri magici, nella speranza di vincere per pura forza di attacco più che per strategia.
Uno dei classici esempi è la classica formazione con l'evocatore Obsidian e i mostri magici dell'elemento Earth che si vede molto spesso fino a poco tempo fa, però adesso non va tanto di moda perchè i giocatori hanno capito come difendersi con successo a tale squadra.
Invece, è molto meglio costruire una squadra molto più equilibrata, con mostri con attacchi e abilità diversi, ed è quello che vedremo nel Battle Mage Secrets Challenge di questa settimana !!!
Counterspell: tutti i mostri in campo hanno l'abilità Magic Reflect, ovvero riflettono l'attacco magico ricevuto diviso per 2.
Possiamo schierare mostri magici, però è meglio se possiedono abilità come Void che possano annullare l'effetto di Magic Reflect ( uno esempio per tutti è Djinn Oshannus).

E queste sono le regole del gioco:
Un ottimo Mana Cap di 55, con i rulesets Even Stevens e Fog of War, oltre a Counterspell: questo ci limita non poco nella scelta delle carte, infatti oltre a poter scegliere solo quelle con costo di mana pari, i nostri mostri non potranno usare l'abilità Sneak, Snipe e Opportunity.

Invece, il mio avversario, ha scelto come evocatore Possibilus the Wise, e in prima posizione ha messo un mostro senza attacco, Baakjira, e a seguire Arkemis the Bear, Djinn Oshannus, Demented Shark, Supply Runner e Wave Brood.
Una sfida molto equilibrata, il mio avversario ha scelto una strategia interessante schierando mostri magici con l'abilità Void, che difatti annullavano il ruleset Counterspell, ma la mia mossa vincente è stata sicuramente scegliere carte con attacco Ranged molto pesante, uno su tutti Raa, che con il suo Double Strike con 3 punti di attacco, è riuscito a distruggere le difese nemiche.
