The First Kisses Of Spring

Finally! A little bit of spring in the Netherlands!

    The Promise Of Better Times

Today felt like the first time that winter had finally packed its bags and made way for a hint of spring. You know, that moment when you take a deep breath and think, "Yes, this no longer smells like cold misery, but like sun, flowers, and the promise of better times."

While I was struggling through the hell of tax returns, Skipper felt the need to nuzzle my arm. Because yes, how dare I do an important task while he is waiting for attention with his enormous puppy eyes? When I didn't react immediately, he lay down on the ground with a deep sigh, as if his entire existence had become meaningless at that moment.

    Enjoying Simple Things

Luckily for him (and secretly for me too) after a while I was done with the worst tax shit and we could go out together. The fresh air, the sun shining in a beautiful blue sky, and Skipper's cheerful sniffing - those are the moments when I realize how nice the simple things in life are.

Taking pictures during these walks is still a challenge, especially because Skipper is convinced that sitting still is something for boring dogs. But there is progress! Now and then, when nothing is exciting to be seen (no birds, no leaves moving, no imaginary dangers), he can bring himself to let me take a picture of a flower. And there it was, in the middle of a lawn: a lonely crocus. A single, brave crocus screamed right in my face: "Can you feel it?! Spring is here!"

    A Satisfied Doggy

After our walk, Skipper plopped down on the couch satisfied and I dove back into the last bits of tax misery. Just a quick check and then the tax return can be filed tomorrow. Anyway, the end is in sight, and after that, I can finally focus on something fun again: a new design for my pyrography! And this time a special assignment: immortalizing two children on wood. Challenge? Yes. But also a great honor.

    Sitting Outside In The Sun!

This afternoon Skipper and I sat outside, and I have to say: the sun felt fantastic. Tomorrow it will be a few degrees warmer, Thursday too, and Friday... Friday it is supposed to be around 18 degrees. REALLY!

After such an endless, gray winter, these are the days I have been looking forward to for months. Warming up in the sun, smelling the scent of spring, and finally feeling like the world is coming back to life. The stove is nice in the winter, but honestly? The sun is the only real source of heat that counts.

So bring it on, spring and summer! Skipper and I are completely ready!
