Gente, buenas esperanzas. Hoy quiero contarles un poco de mi experiencia en el club de lectura recientemente organizado por la Fundación "La Poeteca", una biblioteca especializada en poesía ubicada en Caracas, Venezuela. Este club fue creada para dar a conocer poesía de autores venezolanos y como parte de la divulgación del más reciente título publicado por La Poeteca: "Poemas en bicicletas. Autores grandes para pequeños lectores".
El club es super ameno. Estamos reunidos con personas con diversas experiencias en torno a la poesía que van desde ser ávidos lectores a nuevo en ella. Somos guiados por dos integrantes de la fundación, un librero y un bibliotecario amantes de la poesía que han entregado muchos años al mundo de la promoción de literatura. Sus nombres son Mario Giménez y Leonardo Laverde y mediante el diálogo, la experiencia y la declamación nos están compartiendo una forma de acceder al mundo de la poesía, siempre con la mayor humildad.
En nuestra primera clase la dinámica fluyó de tal manera que, dado que estamos en una biblioteca tan grande (con más de diez mil títulos de poesía),salieron a relucir las experiencias con otros libros y terminamos pasando por "Final sin fin", un libro de investigación que trata el proceso creativo e incluso artesanal del poeta Eugenio Montejo en la creación de su poema titulado con ese mismo nombre. Si se fijan, en la primera foto, pueden ver una de las trece versiones previas a la versión final, la cual está llena de anotaciones y cambios. Montejo fue un hombre entregado al oficio de la poesía y trabajó muy intensamente sus textos, sin ir muy lejos, con este poema duró dos años escribiendo y reescribiendo.
Hasta ahora llevamos dos sesiones, y en la segunda estuvimos reflexionando a partir de lecturas propias, pues nos han dejado al tarea de adentrarnos en el libro a nuestra libertad con la intención de posteriormente compartir nuestras lecturas. Hay muchos autores que he tenido oportunidad de conocer en persona, incluso que me han dado clases en la universidad o en otros espacios, este es el caso de Lázaro Álvarez.
El profesor Lázaro no solo fue una inspiración para mi, sino que además nos acompañó en espíritu ya que leímos un texto de su autoría donde reflexiona en torno a los "lectores cazadores". Esto es muy necesario dado que, en ocasiones, la forma en que podemos acercarnos a la poesía carece de norte. El propósito que nos comparte el profesor Lázaro es básicamente ser humiles y críticos con lo que leemos; no pretendemos ser unos estudiosos metódicos con mecanismos de desconstrucción y análisis del poema como para hacer un ensayo de sesenta páginas, pero sí buscamos ser lectores honestos capaces de reconocer las peculiaridades del lenguaje en el poema hasta el punto de ser capaces de decir, quizá en dos párrafos o una cuartilla, detalles sobre la forma y el fondo del poemas, pues al final del día el espíritu de la poesía está en la unión entre estos dos grande aspectos.
Por ahora eso es lo que va del club, más adelante pueda contarles como terminamos nuestras sesiones y a que poetas leímos (y en particular que a mi me atraparon) en nuestras sesiones. People, good hopes. Today I want to tell you a little bit about my experience in the reading club recently organized by the Foundation “La Poeteca”, a library specialized in poetry located in Caracas, Venezuela. This club was created to promote the poetry of Venezuelan authors and as part of the dissemination of the most recent title published by La Poeteca: “Poemas en bicicletas. Great authors for little readers”.
The club is super enjoyable. We are gathered with people with diverse experiences in poetry ranging from being avid readers to new to it. We are guided by two members of the foundation, a bookseller and a librarian who love poetry and have given many years to the world of literature promotion. Their names are Mario Giménez and Leonardo Laverde and through dialogue, experience and declamation they are sharing with us a way to access the world of poetry, always with the utmost humility.
In our first class the dynamics flowed in such a way, experiences with other books came to light and we ended up going through “Final sin fin”, a research book that deals with the creative and even artisanal process of the poet Eugenio Montejo in the creation of his poem entitled with the same name. If you look at the first photo, you can see one of the thirteen versions prior to the final version, which is full of annotations and changes. Montejo was a man dedicated to the craft of poetry and worked very intensely on his texts, without going very far, with this poem he spent two years writing and rewriting.
So far we have had two sessions, and in the second one we were reflecting on our own readings, since we have been left with the task of going into the book at our own freedom with the intention of later sharing our readings. There are many authors that I have had the opportunity to meet in person, even those who have given me classes at the university or in other spaces, this is the case of Lázaro Álvarez.
Professor Lázaro was not only an inspiration for me, but he also accompanied us in spirit as we read a text of his authorship where he reflects on “hunter readers”. This is very necessary since, sometimes, the way in which we can approach poetry lacks direction. The purpose that Professor Lázaro shares with us is basically to be humble and critical with what we read; we do not pretend to be methodical scholars with mechanisms of deconstruction and analysis of the poem as to make a sixty-page essay, but we do seek to be honest readers capable of recognizing the peculiarities of language in the poem to the point of being able to say, perhaps in two paragraphs or one page, details about the form and substance of the poem, because at the end of the day the spirit of poetry is in the union between these two great aspects.
For now that's all about the club, later on I can tell you how we finished our sessions and which poets we read (and in particular the ones that caught my attention) in our sessions.
