This prompt reminds me of how one chemist guy almost sent me to my early grave unannounced.
I always go for tests before taking any medication, and if I should ever fall sick, it doesn't pass malaria or typhoid. I always opt for injections as I don't like taking tablets or capsules. The smell irritates me, especially the blood capsule that, after taking it and you belch, it is as if the drug just wants to come out of your mouth.
Most of these malaria drug has one kind of smell that, even before you put them in your mouth, the smell alone makes you feel like you are throwing up completely. That is why I prefer injections to tablets or capsules.
Let me gist you guys how this guy almost unalive me for patronizing him with drugs. Many Africans or Nigerians don't believe in allergies. We don't believe that someone can have an allergy.
I was sick, and I had already run tests; it turned out to be malaria. So I didn't have money to visit all these big hospitals or clinics. They charge you for malaria treatment is just much; a struggling student like me couldn't afford it. Worst still I didn't even tell anybody in my family. I felt it was something that I could handle.
Although I can handle it, after all, I have run tests, and so it's just to take it to a pharmacy or chemist to administer the necessary drugs to me.
I took it to one guy that the call doctor in my area there. I showed him the lab test, and he told me the amount I would pay. It was affordable to me, so I paid him, and he gave me an injection the first day, and I left.
It was made to last for three days, so the next day I went, he gave me an injection again, but this time he gave me some tablets that I would drink at home, that if I came tomorrow, he would complete the tablets.
So I left; at first, everything was going fine, but when I wanted to leave, I turned and asked him, "Bros, I hope there is no chloroquine inside.
He said No, I no add am (meaning that he didn't add it). I left with the drug and went home. Around 6pm I took the drug. That's how my problem started; I was scratching my body after taking it.
I thought it was the water that I bathed with before you would say, Jack. My entire body started swelling up. It looks like it is pox. Thank God I wasn't home alone; I don't know what would have been the outcome. My eyes were turning.
I passed out, only to wake up and find myself in the same hospital I didn't want to go to. Then the doctor said I should thank my friend. If she had not given me coconut water before they brought me here, I would have given up.
He went further to ask me why I took chloroquine if I was not aware that I was allergic to it. I told him I didn't take it, but he raised the drug that my friend gave him, saying that's the drug I took and it contains chloroquine. I was shocked.
That's how God saved me. I arrested the guy, it turns out that he doesn't even know which is which.
Always go to a good pharmacy or hospital for treatment. Avoid all these roadside chemists. Most of them have done more harm than good.
