Pests are a problem for the horticulturist, but they are part of nature and we must learn to live with them. It is a mistake to try to eliminate them completely with products that in the long term will be much more harmful to us, causing serious illnesses. In this series of articles I will talk about how to deal with these small, undesirable living beings.

Tetranychus urticae, commonly known as red spider, is a type of sap-sucking mite that causes serious problems for the vegetables in our garden.
It is undoubtedly one of the worst pests that we usually have in hot and dry climates, since this is the environment in which these animals proliferate.

The most efficient way to fight this pest is to keep the soil of our vegetables moist. It can also be fought by spraying the underside of the leaves with water or steam.
Sulfur in powder form or soluble in water also has some properties to fight this pest.
In any case, when the damage is very large, it is best to remove the plants and burn them.
