Hey everyone , how is your day going,
Today I want to show everyone how our traditional marriage list looks and and the process we took before getting it.
First of all am happy to announce that the list was brought on my behalf 🥰but wait is not yet time to congratulate me because it hasn't been paid for,
For now I want to show everyone what it cost to marry a wife from my state (Abia state Nigeria)
Like everyone knows, before a man and a woman can talk about marriage , it starts with dating to a mutual agreement and so on,
We've passed all these stages and finally we agreed to be together.
First of all as tradition demands, he has to come with his friends to see my family and am glad he did,
I was nervous and didn't know how to behave,
Whether to be happy and anxious but to be sincere I was nervous but am glad that my parents accepted him and they were happy to see him.
He came with a two bottles of wine and some money as tradition demands and am glad it went well.
After a few weeks, he came with his parents as tradition also demands but this time I wasn't nervous rather I was happy,
You know is very heartwarming to see that you have a loving mother and father in-law who accepts and appreciate you just the way you are, infact that has been my prayer since I was a baby.
This time they came with one craft of malt, wine, and money.
The Igbo tradition demands that you don't just give out wine but you have to support the wine using some amount of money, sounds crazy right?
After everything we presented kolanut , alligator pepper , garden eggs and a well prepared and presented vegetable soup to them , oh wait I forget, we also gave them water and malt drink because here in my country , you can't serve food without water,
Anyone who does that is considered as untrained
They ate and everyone was happy and that was when they brought the good news,
Now I know that you are curious to know the good news well I will tell you😊.
They handed us money to bring our traditional marriage list🎉.
You might not understand how happy I was but believe me I was very happy,
Everyone was happy and now is time for them to go,
We escorted them to the gate and wow they left, am happy but does it really end there?
The list is out and damn is much but I believe that it will be taken care of, that aside let me show you how it looks like but today I will only show you what the women demands and maybe later I will show you what they men are demanding
The women are demanding for a lot of funny things like earrings, necklace, watches, handbags , umbrella, bangles, shoes and headtie
(The list was written by a couple of women in our community union )
The list contains a total of 43 items and believe me you can actually bargain with them if you don't have enough money,
