Let’s walk to the Nature Reserve

    Here we gooooooooo 😁

As we walk along the road from the little village towards the NATURE RESERVE we see this large sign 🪧 it tells us there is a hotel, camping 🏕️, nature centre and art. Very promising 😁
    IMG_1076.jpeg

This icy 🥶 and snowy road leads towards the river. Watch your steps.
    IMG_1078.jpeg

    We walk along further.
    IMG_1079.jpeg

The signs show us walking #trails.
    IMG_1080.jpeg

We decide we follow the trail towards the right. It was snowploughed so we can walk over it. Next to the path the snow is too soft and we sink in deep.
    IMG_1081.jpeg

We entered the Nature Reserve 😁
    IMG_1082.jpeg

The path goes through the tree line 🌳🌲🌳 we follow it into the forest.
    IMG_1083.jpeg

After a while next to us. Looking up we see steps… we can’t climb up as the snow is too deep. The hill next to us goes fairly steep up.
    IMG_1084.jpeg

Our first glimpse of the Vindel River, through the trees. 😊
    IMG_1085.jpeg

As you can see the path runs along it. So let’s walk 😎
    IMG_1086.jpeg

Not far along we see a large information sign about the nature reserve. The river in the background.
    IMG_1088.jpeg

We are looking over the river towards the right. I am so happy we still can see the water running through. Even though the snow is thick ☃️
    IMG_1090.jpeg

We wander further along the path.
    IMG_1092.jpeg

This cute bench is just visible under and in the snow. Look at the carvings on the top. HIKING BOOTS. 🥾 Cool 😎
    IMG_1094.jpeg

At this spot we take in the #SCENERY. The views are stunning 🤩
Imagine the river is much wider than the water you see 😳 most is under the snow.
    IMG_1095.jpeg

In front of us we see the layers of snow on top of the water. It forms some pretty cool layers / formations.
    IMG_1096.jpeg

    Looking a bit better. 🤓
    IMG_1097.jpeg

Our view of the #wintery #landscape towards the left. You see the river tries to break through the layers.
    IMG_1098.jpeg

In the distance we see a building on the left, just next to the river. 😊
    IMG_1100.jpeg

We walked further to the right, and see a long hanging bridge going over the river. You can see how WIDE the river really is 😳 as the bridge is hanging fully over it.
    IMG_1103.jpeg

More signs, we don’t cross the river today. (We have done it another time and that hike, I will show you one day 😎) We go back along the path now and walk further on the left side of the river. Towards the hotel and the building we saw in the distance.
    IMG_1108.jpeg

There are wooden walking paths, boardwalks through the forest. The river is right from us. It just looks so beautiful with all the snow ⛄️
    IMG_1111.jpeg

Above us along the mountain we see some cabins. What a view they must have over the river. 🥰
    IMG_1115.jpeg

We peek at the river through the trees 🌳
    IMG_1119.jpeg

Suddenly I see next to the path:
    IMG_1122.jpeg

Aaawwww look how cute, some snow ⛄️ puppets. They have been weathered a bit.
    IMG_1124.jpeg

They are very small. Some of the long ears still surviving 🐰 so cute ⛄️☃️
    IMG_1126.jpeg

We walk along and looking back along the river, beautiful birch trees lining the edge.
    IMG_1127.jpeg

The path we walked over / came from.
    IMG_1128.jpeg

The water is very dark blue next to us 😎
    IMG_1130.jpeg

We look closely at the snow and ice formations on the river. I guess they must be rocks 🪨
    IMG_1131.jpeg

Another cute bench to rest and take in the views… probably better in the spring and summer haha 😂
    IMG_1133.jpeg

I must say the view there is STUNNING. We walked far now and you can’t even see the views we had before or the bridge.
    IMG_1134.jpeg

It almost looks like the further we walk now the thicker the layer of snow and ice becomes.
    IMG_1135.jpeg

Do you see that? So beautiful 🤩
    IMG_1136.jpeg

We found a little pier that goes into the water a bit. We walked through the deep snow to get towards the end of it.
These are the views towards the right.
    IMG_1138.jpeg

Focussing on all the details 😎
    IMG_1139.jpeg

Next to us we see the #RAPIDS. The sounds are amazing here 😉
    IMG_1140.jpeg

We slowly look towards the left. We see more from the (wide) river here.
    IMG_1141.jpeg

The building gets better visible the closer we get towards it.
    IMG_1144.jpeg

This is a perfect stop for a break from the photos. Let me show you my video 🎥 now.

I made a video in 3 different spots along this river and combined them.
‼️TURN UP THE VOLUME!‼️ and check it out here:

Did you see that THE RIVER is much wider than you actually can see on this video. It goes from river #edge to river #edge (tree line and the barricades) on each side… it streams literally under the ICE AND SNOW. ❄️ It truly is a very very WIDE RIVER 😁

Hope you enjoyed this video. 😊

We are still standing on the lookout / viewpoint on the pier.
I zoom in for you at the building on the left.
    IMG_1145.jpeg

A few more captured behind us.
    IMG_1151.jpeg

I see so many beautiful details 🤓 look closely!
    IMG_1154.jpeg

We wandered further over the boardwalk and reach this building. It stands out against the snow with its red #paint and blue coloured #shutters.
    IMG_1156.jpeg

The boardwalk goes next to it. Lets wander further to see it better 🥰
    IMG_1158.jpeg

We have these views towards the right.
    IMG_1159.jpeg

How can I not capture sooooo many photographs 🫣
    IMG_1161.jpeg

We look just past the shed in front of the large building.
    IMG_1163.jpeg

The sound you have heard now… so imagine that, standing here.
    IMG_1165.jpeg

We can’t see along the bend.
    IMG_1167.jpeg

Ok, let’s check out the building and its #architecture.
    IMG_1168.jpeg

Typical Swedish. 🇸🇪 I do like the blue shutters.
    IMG_1170.jpeg

The corner 😎 some lights to lighten the path.
    IMG_1171.jpeg

    A rusty ventilator.
    IMG_1172.jpeg

Looking up, do you see the iron cables? You pull the shutter close with from the inside without opening the window. 🪟
    IMG_1175.jpeg

All the way up the window and roofs details.
    IMG_1176.jpeg

We walk around the building and find more. This is the area that is used for exhibits. Of course everything is closed during the winter. So we can’t check it out.
    IMG_1177.jpeg

    View from further away.
    IMG_1178.jpeg

We check out the signs and see where we want to go next 😁
    IMG_1179.jpeg

I like the little wooden signs better 🙂
    IMG_1180.jpeg

Let me show you more information on the signs about this nature reserve.
    IMG_1181.jpeg

The English part is very small 😋
    IMG_1182.jpeg

We walk further along the path as we want to discover even more.
    IMG_1183.jpeg

This path is next to the camping that is on the left here. The river still on our right.
    IMG_1185.jpeg

A little bit further we see this sign 🪧
    IMG_1186.jpeg

The English part of it tells us… YES, JUST WHAT I THOUGHT. 💭 THE BUILDING WITH THE BLUE SHUTTERS IS A MILL.
Read the text for more information. It does tell us the #MILL was founded in 1888 and closed down in 1958 😳
    IMG_1187.jpeg

Further along the path we see some picnic tables 😎 shall we have a sit hahaha 🤣
    IMG_1188.jpeg

Maybe not right now, the snow is as high as the benches. 😋
    IMG_1189.jpeg

We turn around and walk back to the entrance of the nature reserve.
We see a few smaller buildings with more information in Swedish.
    IMG_1191.jpeg

The area from the locals where they gather for events.
    IMG_1192.jpeg

Cool silhouettes on the side of this cabin. Check out its #FOUNDATION 😳
Just a large rock on each corner.
    IMG_1193.jpeg

The road back towards the village. The goodbye 👋🏻 sign on the shed.
    IMG_1194.jpeg

    The beautiful birch tree 🌳
    IMG_1195.jpeg

Closer to the village of Vindeln we see a #SNOWMOBILE trail. You recognise them on the red cross ❌
    IMG_1198.jpeg

I just had to share this car too with you before we say goodbye 👋🏻
It is pretty buried hahaha 🤣
    IMG_1199.jpeg

Let’s go and warm up now with a HOT drink, you deserved it 😊
