Hello everyone on Hive and wrestling fans, something just came to my attention about WWE universe and what the Rock has done recently in WWE SmackDown.
Being a long time wrestling fan, I had to give my opinion on whether The Rock would turn baby-face at WrestleMania 40.
Let us take this apart. Lately, the Rock himself has stormed the waves with his participation in Bloodline storyline together with his cousin Roman Reigns; but there is a sense that more is about to happen.
In one of the recent segments, The Rock said something concerning Cody Rhodes insisting he will make sure Cody leaves Wrestlemania 40 as a loser. What caught my attention was the way he looked at Roman Reigns while saying this.
It felt like there was an undercurrent between them which suggested that there may be a split within The Bloodline.
Another thrilling moment was when The Rock got into the Blood line’s signature pose of ‘We The Ones,’ but with a twist, he then kept his thumb out. This may look like a small detail but in wrestling, gestures and body movements can say so much.
The fact that he did not conform to the customary stance might show some rebellion on behalf of the Brahma bull as regards the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.
I’ve always liked how faces and heels interact in wrestling as a fan. His career has seen him run amazing times where he is loved by everyone or hated by all. It would definitely be interesting if we saw him revert back to his babyface personality during WrestleMania 40 build-up stage.
However, the question remains as to why The Rock would opt to become a good guy at this particular point in time. Now, evolving wrestling storylines are all about evolution and how they can keep their fans entertained.
Reverting back to his days as a fan favorite might present new opportunities for rivalries and matches that will reinvigorate the WWE landscape.
Certainly, until it happens in the ring nothing is certain. WWE likes to leave its fans on tenterhooks with the Rock’s actions which could possibly lead to another outcome entirely. Still, subtle hints from SmackDown episodes have left me more keen on anticipation of what lies ahead.
To sum up, there are no sure things in professional wrestling but some signs direct towards The Rock being moved into a babyface role for WrestleMania 40 has definitely piqued my interest.
I will be eager as a viewer to see how this story unfolds throughout the show and whether “The Great One” will again be seen by all people of WWE Universe as a hero.
