Hello friends!
Here we are on the magical day of the year, it's Christmas and there's nothing better than starting the day in the most beautiful, inspiring and also sweet way. This is not really about a recipe but about a Christmas typical food that we love and enjoy today! (I wanted to share it here).
I went out early to run along the seafront enjoying the tranquility of the moment when the sun, the Invictus Sun that is reborn today and will illuminate us more, rose from the sea in a wonderful picture. A gift from nature and from this divine world.
Then it was time to replenish our strength with everyone, and in the sweetest and most traditional way. With hot chocolate and a panettone. I know it's an Italian tradition, but now, for a few years now, it's a gastronomic phenomenon in Spain too, and many are imported. So as I have a half Italian soul, I have lived and studied there and I have returned to study at the university, so I enjoy it very much.
And here is this year's panettone!
I bought it in Spain (Gourmet section of El Corte Inglés), but it is Italian, specifically from some pastry chefs from the Veneto region (where I lived when I studied there years ago...) so I was looking forward to remembering those old and wonderful years.
And also this panettone is not the classic one that we know, it is a variant, because over the years there is more innovation in the sector and you have to keep trying... this one is made with red fruits and mascarpone cream (the cheese used to make tiramisù), a delicious delicacy!
A soft and sweet sourdough slowly fermented with good and tasty ingredients, in a special recipe, original and somewhat different but very good. And also with a beautiful hand-wrapped, with a nice paper and tied creating a package that is already a gift in itself. This way we enjoy this special day in an even sweeter way.
Despite being sold commercially, it still retains details that maintain its originality and tradition, and that Italian passion for sweets like this one that has become a Christmas icon, along with other traditional sweets such as those in Spain: turrones and polvorones mainly. Now we enjoy more of everything.
And we continue opening it, because it comes in a plastic bag, and so it also maintains that unique aroma that suddenly envelops everything when you open it.
We see and smell it, and it has red fruits, especially blueberries at first glance, then we discover strawberries too, and if we get closer, something that shines is the mascarpone cream, which gives a soft, creamy and unctuous touch to the dough. It is truly a delight. Obviously it does not have the typical raisins and candied orange fruits, it is an innovative and also delicious variation, I wanted to try and experiment, and we liked it.
So all we needed was a cup of hot chocolate, made in a moment, but made intense, dark and dense, very dense. To dip better, to fully enjoy Christmas morning, and there is still more to come...
I hope you all enjoy yourselves sweetly, I hope you open presents and above all smile a lot. Today is a bright day here, blue sky and warm sun that give us warmth and brightness to make this special day more magical, and we have to keep enjoying it, I'm coming... then it's time for Christmas lunch too!!! jajaja be careful not to overeat ;)
Enjoy these sweet days! Merry Christmas!!!
