Next week, my country, Belgium gets a visit from the Pope. He will lead a mass for 35 thousand people in a football stadium next Saturday. But, on Friday 15 victims of sexual abuse by Belgian priests will get 4 minutes to talk about their stories with the Pope. A measly four minutes, and that is translation and greeting included. And best part, it will happen behind closed doors.

My country has a bad reputation when it comes to sexual abuse by priests. Thousands of victims have fallen in the last 40 years. But they never got an official “Sorry” from the Vatican. And it looks like that “sorry” won’t happen next weekend either. The chosen ones will get a measly 4 minutes to do their story. And that’s it, case closed for the Vatican. The men need to shut up after their top secret talk. Very sad how the Catholic Church handles all of this. No sorry, no resignation for the priests, no compensation, no nothing…

Very sad, but in my humble opinion the visit should be boycotted. Maybe then he will understand.
