My first try of Dry Beef Horfun at Choy Kee's Place

I think that a Horfun dish is so versatile that almost any kind of variation will taste good and it will be satisfying as well. I often go to Choy Kee's Place whenever I want to eat a Seafood Horfun. There's no doubt that it's one of the best considering the price of around the S$6 mark. That's a good price for a seafood dish. It feels odd that seafood is the most expensive here in the city while it's relatively cheaper in other Asean countries.

Singapore doesn't produce or catch its seafood. They rely on neighboring countries like Malaysia and Indonesia for the supply of seafood to the city hence it became one of the most expensive types of food. Seafood has become a popular choice in the city. Whether sashimi, fish soup, grilled, deep-fried, or even stir-fried dishes; it is definitely on the order list.

Most of the time, I would go for seafood dishes but for tonight I would like to try the other dishes. I ordered the dry version of Beef Horfun.

My first impression is that the presentation looks amazing! The edges of the plate were neat and it was also organized. This is the kind of presentation that I wouldn't expect from a hawker stall. Usually, it's a little bit messy because the cook won't pay much attention to it because of the long line of orders.

That's why I'm quite surprised that it looks unexpectedly nice 😅.

I feel that the dry version is better than the other version with lots and lots of sauce. The flavors were condensed in a thick sauce that coated the noodles and the toppings.

The Chinese cuisine has developed a good way of cooking a tender meat. I guess, it's the freshness of the ingredients that made this dish flavorful!

Of course, the pickled green chili is a must-have on my table. The tanginess of the pickled green chili cuts through the heaviness of a Hofun sauce.

Because of this experience, it has become one of my favorite dishes. I will come to try the other dishes from the other Horfun dry version. Yay!

My journey to the world of food.
