HOW LOCAL NEIGHBORS DISTURB MY SERENITY WITH THEIR DOMESTIC ANIMALS

To live in a completely sane environment that is void of disturbance, noise and pollution is one that is relatively scarce these days. People will end up frustrating you even in places that is beyond they their limits. The one I have come to hate presently is where neighbors are oblivious or act ignorant to the fact their domestic animals are not supposed to wander about and disturb the peace of the neighborhood. This is becoming so rampant these days that even in a low fenced house, goats jump in eat vegetables and food crops, dogs barking unnecessary at odd hours, chickens especially cocks crowing loudly and constantly.

I live with my family in a storey building which is a rented 3 bedroom and parlor apartment shared by three neighbors, one upstairs and two downstairs. When we were first house hunting, the place was very serene, calm and quiet that we fell in love already. That was years back and there was nothing like cocks crowing so early in the now , in the afternoon or whenever they hear their fellow colleagues crow in distant areas. Everything and everywhere was perfect and the neighbors were very reasonable and maintained their lanes and did not trespass. Infact, they were so responsible and matured that we all lived happy without stress.

However, reverse is the case now, the tenants we used to know that were educated in sophisticated in their doings have been replaced with uncultured and careless people. They misuse opportunities by rearing chickens that are left to roam about the big compound. That is not even my problem , my problem is the fact that it seems the cock amongst them was diabolically sent to disturb the piece of the compound. I know people would say, in a traditional setting in Nigeria cocks are meant to crow in the early hours of the day as a way to start to a new. But in a modern house boundaries should be respected.

The thing is that these domestic animals do not know their boundaries, they tend to follow you around especially when then suspect you carrying food. The worse is the fact that these animals mess up the pavement at the backyard with their poo all over the place. When we scold or correct the neighbors as to what their chickens have done, they hypocritical take broom and parker to clean up the place without finding a lasting solution to it. Either by keeping them locked in a cage , or restricting their movements.

When we first got here, the place was calm and Peaceful, but now chicken crow early in the morning, mid afternoon and even in the evening, the important moment when one is taking a rest after a long day or relaxing in the hot afternoon. This has become a burden because these people are not even doing well in caring for themselves, they claim chicken feed is expensive and can't afford it hence they leave them roaming around.

This has become a burden so far, that we plan on moving to a more private place that we would not have to shared backyards with other people. To even relax at the back of the house is no longer fun because of the mindset that the environment has been polluted with chicken poo
