Something Unique — Social Voilk

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, I went to two exhibitions. One was a photo exhibition I posted about here and the other was a painting exhibition. Although the two exhibitions were very different as far as the artworks were concerned, both were extraordinary in my eyes and I hope after you see the photos, you'll have the same opinion.

When I stepped into the gallery and had a look in the first room, knew right away that I'm going to leave with some amazing photos and wonderful memories. My instinct was right as that's exactly what happened.

In A Row Of Daisies

The artist is Vera Dan, and her style is something I've never seen, but grabbed my attention from the very first second. Just as with the photos the other day, I stood in front of this painting, trying to figure out what the artist meant. It's quite a complex one and very interesting.

The Dreamer

The first thing that captured my attention when I looked at this painting was the lady's face. That striking yellow, along with her facial expression is something unique. The I looked at the title, which describes the painting very well and beneath, there were some details about the painting, that left me amazed. The hat of the lady was made using corn husk. I've never seen corn husk used in paintings, but it's a brilliant idea due to the texture of it. Also, I'd like to ask you to look at the details as you're going to notice some repetitive elements :)

Mays

Again, look at that face and eye! Absolutely fantastic. Here too, the hat is made of corn husk. It's a very complex composition, but I like it a lot.

Composition

I tried to figure out what this composition mans, but I think I failed. However, I like it anyway. The color combination is amazing. Blue with the mustard-like yellow is lovely. Here too, corn husk was used and look at the texture of it. It adds a nice plus to the composition.

And this artwork confirms the artist likes to work with corn. I suppose that's the globe.

Composition II.

Look at how nicely corn husk can be incorporated. You can use the texture so nicely and again, that yellow goes perfectly with the blue. Excellent choice. What I love about these abstract paintings is that you never stop wondering what the artist meant. You come up with one explanation, than on another day, you find another and so on.

When The Roses Are Blooming

There was a change in style here and the title of the painting is also confusing. However, those dandelions wrapped in some very delicate fabric and tied with a string are lovely. The dark brownish background just makes it more striking.

Dandelions

I see this bouquet of dandelions like the bouquet from the previous painting, taken from a different angle. Most likely it's not the same as the previous one has some blue flowers too.

Be Or Not To Be ... Brauner ...?

Before we say anything about the painting, I have to tell you who's Brauner.

Victor Brauner (also spelled Viktor Brauner; 15 June 1903 – 12 March 1966) was a Romanian painter and sculptor of the surrealist movement. source

Now you may ask what this painting has to do with Victor Brauner.

This is Victor Brauner's self portrait. You can compare the two portraits and see which one is better, or rather which one you like as the one above is the original. I love how the artist incorporated the portrait into the painting, giving it a nice and abstract background. The flowing down painting indicates that the man had something to do with paint :) Also, the glow on the face is priceless. The colors chosen are a perfect mach as well.

Grassroots Dialogue

Remember what I told you at the beginning of my post? Or what I asked you to do? To pay attention to details. Here we have another painting with dandelions. So far there are two repetitive elements at this exhibition. One is the corn, the other is the dandelion.

Waterlilies
