Love finally in the blossom of a soccer match

"Jason, wake up!" my mother tapped voraciously on my skin. I turned to the far end of the bed, away from her reach. I wanted to go to sleep more.

"Jason, today is the 29th," my mother mentioned. I jumped out of bed,my heart beating profusely. The little slumber has worn off all of a sudden. I looked at my mother, who chuckled slightly at my behavior. I once told her to remind me of the match, which will be held on the 29th. The annual soccer match between the Eastside Eagles and Westside Wolves Their rivalry ran deep. I watched last year when my team, the Westside Wolves, lost to the Eastside Eagles. It was disappointing, but this year I had this feeling that they would claim victory and earn bragging rights.

"Get dressed; breakfast will soon be ready," my mother said before walking off. I exhaled heavily, calming my nerves. The bright light coming from the blinds of the window tempted me to go over and scream on top of my voice, the sense of anticipation that hung at the pit of my stomach. After getting dressed, I looked in the mirror and broughtforth the colors of my team. I made a nice design on my face with orange and blue, which is my team color. My unruly brown hair and my freckled face are satisfied enough with me. I hope Nancy likes this design. I wonder if she was going to paint her face like I did. I hope she will be coming to watch the match too.

Hey, so sorry I didn't introduce Nancy. Nancy is a slender girl with long black hair and the most beautiful hazel eyes I have ever seen. We usually argue about her eyes. In my own perspective, it looks brownish, but for her, it looks greenish, but it was perfect coupled with her curvy shape. I'm two years older than her. She is my childhood friend. We do things together, but I have never mustered the courage to tell her how I feel about her.

I wore the jersey of my favorite team, the Eastside Eagles, and satisfied with my look, I trailed downstairs.

"Perfect," I giggled at my mother, complimenting the design on my face.

"Mum, please, I will be using your car; mine is faulty." I could see the discomfort in her eyes, but she granted my request. With a peek on her cheek, I stunned out of the house to the venue of the march.

As the game kicked off, the tension on the field was palpable. I looked around for Nancy but couldn't find her. My palm got sweaty when one of the players from the Westside Wolves ran with determination but was outplayed. My heart is poundingwith excitement, and my nerves are on the verge of giving up on me.The crowd roared as the Eagles' star striker, Jim, stepped up to take the ball, shooting it to the opponent's goal post. I was slightly relieved, holding my hands to my chest. I exhaled deeply.

"What did I miss?" Nancy came forward, sitting beside me. My heart was filled with joy, and my eyes brightened seeing her.

"That's an amazing design there," she complimented my face. I giggled, trying so hard to compose myself.

"I just love Jim; see how he took off the ball so skillfully."

"Did you see that?" She nodded before our eyes diverted to the pitch. The match went on, and the game was tough. At the end of the first match, the game ended at zero for both teams. The crowd cheered for their team, and it was time for me and Nancy to chat for a while. I wasn't free with her anymore, unlike before. I was probably scared of rejection when I finally poured out my feelings to her; the bubbles in her eyes made me more scared.

The second half resumed once again; it was more competitive than the first half, but it still resulted in a score of zero for both teams. There was going to be a penalty shoot. My heart was pounding profusely as the opposing team was the first to begin. The first penalty shot was lost by the opponent team, followed by Jim stepping up to take the shot. With a deep breath, Jim lined up the ball, his eyes locked on the goal. He struck it with precision, sending it soaring towards the net. The goalkeeper dove, but the ball sailed past him, hitting the back of the net with a resounding thud.

The crowd cheered, jumping and hugging in celebration. Nancy jumped on me, surprisingly. My head spun in a minute about what she just did—an opportunity to tell her how I feel about her.

"Nancy," I called, tapping her shoulder.

"I don't know how you will take this, but I have feelings, and I don't know how to summon courage to tell you about it." I diverted my eyes to the floor; I didn't want to see the expression on her face.

"I was scared of how you're going to feel about it, and certainly I was scared of rejection." I placed my hand on my chest and breathed in.

"I have been waiting to hear this. 'My eyes sprung with surprise as she hugged and kissed me so dearly. It was a happy day; my team won the match, and here I am with the most beautiful girl in the world.
    Cheers!
