Hi, I'm Paul, an aspiring graphic designer/illustrator.
The super typhoon Pepito has made a landfall along the coast of Catanduanes this Saturday and it is expected to exit in the Philippine area of responsibility by Monday. Many local government units who will be affected by the typhoon has made early preparations for the disaster that will happen after the incident where many people and their means of living has been affected by the past typhoon Kristine.
It is kind of depressing because due to climate change, it will become the norm to have at least 2 to 3 typhoons by the month of November or maybe I'm just overreacting.
MY ART REFERENCE
For this week's art contest, I decided to create a fan illustration of Meriput Magician, a common, life unit monster from the Rebellion Series. Based on its lore, same as the Meriput Slinger, it is a shy creature and peaceful creature of the Muriden. The Meriput Magician uses it skill to heal their allies and kin while preserving the food for the colony, mainly on supporting everyone who needs help.
Image is from the Splinterlands game
MY ART PROCESS
I created a simple sketch of what I visualized the character. I decided to do a tomboyish version of the character its based. I added the details in the dangling part near the pouch.
After adding simple details, I started coloring from the head to the lower part of the body up to the wand part. I improvised on what I visualized for the cape of the Meriput Magician and I like how it came.
I'm basing my color on the character palette card of the game.
Here is the GIF version of my process.
