En días pasados, encontré una publicación de un medio digital argentino que hablaba sobre la legislación que se discute con respecto a la práctica del tatuaje en este país, y realmente para mi fue sorpresivo pues yo pensaba que todo lo que están normando, ya era algo que se cumplía cabalmente.
Uno de los aspectos que me pareció importante (todos lo son, pero este es fundamental) es el hecho de seguir con las normas sanitarias básicas para estos procedimientos, pues aunque en la ciudad se ven por doquiera establecimientos de tatuajes, de seguro existen muchos otros que son más del tipo experimental en " la casa de un amigo que tiene una máquina".
Al igual que el tema del alcohol durante las sesiones, y es que si a ver vamos, al estar tan normalizado el consumo de cervezas, vinos y demás bebidas de este tipo, tanto tatuador como cliente pueden no ver las consecuencias que pudiera tener el mezclar un trabajo de tatuaje con la ingesta de sustancias que afectan al sistema nervioso.
Sería como las situaciones de los conductores que al tener un registro y muchos años manejando, creen que el consumo de alcohol no influye en su desempeño detrás de un volante, y solo se arrepienten (o eso quiero creer) cuando algo malo sucede.
En todo caso, y aunque de seguro muchos protestarán si se llega a aprobar del todo esta ley, me parece que es muy acertado poner ciertas normas con respecto a la práctica del tatuaje y demás transformaciones corporales, ya que aunque no se trate de un procedimiento quirúrgico como tal, implica ciertos riesgos que no se deben tomar a la ligera.
Y un punto más que considero que debe adaptarse no solo a esto, sino también a muchos otros aspectos dentro de la sociedad en general, es el hecho de tener una autorización si quien se va a realizar esta modificación corporal es un menor de edad.
Desde que empezaron las "luchas" con respecto a los derechos sobre las decisiones sobre el cuerpo, se abrió una puerta que a mi juicio debió quedar en resguardo, por lo menos hasta la mayoría de edad, cuando según ya las personas son capaces de pensar y decidir racionalmente ( aunque en muchos no aplica).
Y digo esto porque he visto niños con piercing, zarcillos y hasta algún tatuaje improvisado, y algunos no pasan de los 11 años! Pero obvio, con el tema de "mi cuerpo, mi decisión" que empezó como lema para aprobar moralmente el aborto, y que ahora lo aplican a casi todo, se desató un libertinaje que a mi juicio, no está del todo bien, sobre todo porque muchas de estas decisiones vienen de la mano de las modas o la presión grupal entre adolescentes.
Espero que esta ley que sigue en discusiones en el Senado argentino, vea luz prontamente, pues siempre será mejor prevenir que lamentar, por lo menos en lo que se refiere a las prácticas relacionadas con el mundo del tatuaje, los piercings y demás modificaciones estéticas de este estilo.
In recent days, I came across a publication from an Argentine digital media outlet discussing the legislation being debated regarding tattooing practices in this country, and it was truly surprising to me because I thought everything they are regulating was already fully complied with.
One aspect that struck me as important (they are all important, but this one is fundamental) is the need to continue following basic sanitary standards for these procedures, because even though there are tattoo parlors everywhere in the city, there are surely many others that are more of the experimental type, like "at a friend's house who has a machine."
The issue of alcohol during sessions also caught my attention, because when you think about it, with the consumption of beers, wines, and other such beverages so normalized, both the tattoo artist and the client may overlook the potential consequences of mixing tattoo work with substances that affect the nervous system.
It's similar to situations with drivers who, having a license and many years of experience, believe that alcohol consumption doesn't affect their performance behind the wheel, and only regret it (or so I hope) when something bad happens.
In any case, even though many will surely protest if this law is fully approved, I think it is very wise to establish certain regulations regarding tattooing and other types of body modifications, because even though it's not a surgical procedure per se, it involves risks that should not be taken lightly.
Another point I believe should be applied not only to this, but to many other aspects within society in general is the requirement for authorization if a minor is going to undergo this type of body modification.
Since the "struggles" began regarding rights over decisions about the body, a door has been opened that, in my opinion, should have been kept closed, at least until reaching the age of majority when people are considered capable of thinking and deciding rationally (although it doesn't apply to many).
I mention this because I have seen children with piercings, earrings, and even some makeshift tattoos, and some of them are no older than 11 years old! Clearly, with the "my body, my choice" theme that started as a slogan to morally approve abortion, and is now applied to almost everything, a sort of permissiveness has been unleashed that, in my view, is not entirely right, especially because many of these decisions stem from trends or peer pressure among teenagers.
I hope that this law, still under discussion in the Argentine Senate, will see the light soon, as it is always better to prevent than to regret, at least when it comes to practices related to the world of tattoos, piercings, and other aesthetic modifications of this kind.
