El rumor, como un ente maligno que se infiltra en nuestra mente, tiene el poder de nublar la verdad, desafiar la lógica más afilada y anidar en nuestros pensamientos. Se instala en nuestro interior y alimenta las aseveraciones subjetivas, poniendo a prueba nuestra capacidad real para discernir entre la información veraz y engañosa que se impregna en nuestro ser.
Su manifestación no solo evidencia la ineptitud intelectual para manejar con prudencia las ideas que circulan en nuestra mente, sino que también se configura como un juego maquiavélico premeditado, impulsado por aquellos que, con astucia desmedida, buscan tergiversar la información con el único propósito de manipular para sus mezquinos intereses.
Otros rumores, en cambio, nacen de nuestra propia inocencia. Son un intento, aunque imperfecto, de interpretar lo que acontece a nuestro alrededor, llenando vacíos de información con suposiciones acomodaticias. Estas suposiciones, como olas que emergen en un mar de dudas, buscan calmar las tormentosas aguas de la incertidumbre.
El rumor se fortalece con la credulidad.

Rumor, like an evil entity that infiltrates our mind, has the power to cloud the truth, defy the sharpest logic and nestle in our thoughts. It settles inside us and fuels subjective assertions, testing our real ability to discern between truthful and misleading information that permeates our being.
Its manifestation not only evidences the intellectual ineptitude to handle with prudence the ideas that circulate in our mind, but it is also configured as a premeditated Machiavellian game, driven by those who, with inordinate cunning, seek to distort information with the sole purpose of manipulating for their petty interests.
Other rumors, on the other hand, are born of our own innocence. They are an attempt, albeit imperfect, to interpret what is happening around us, filling information gaps with accommodating assumptions. These assumptions, like waves emerging in a sea of doubts, seek to calm the stormy waters of uncertainty.
Rumor is strengthened by credulity.
Sin importar la forma que adopte el rumor, su impacto negativo es innegable, Genera malestar y daño a aquellos que son víctimas de su malévola esencia. Corroída el alma, el rumor siembra la enemistad, envenena la confianza y erosiona los cimientos de las relaciones humanas.

Regardless of the form the rumor takes, its negative impact is undeniable. It generates discomfort and harm to those who are victims of its malevolent essence. Corroding the soul, it sows enmity and poisons trust, eroding the foundations of human relationships.
In this new opportunity, I join the initiative entitled Esa Vida Nuestra/ Iniciativa №22/La clínica del rumor/ESP-ENG promoted by @charjaim that provides us with a valuable space to share our experiences with rumor, that human activity that generates enmity and erodes trust.

Rememorando un suceso del pasado, me viene a la mente la imagen de mí mismo sentado, disfrutando de un poco de aire fresco, cuando de pronto, un rumor comenzó a rondar a mi alrededor: un compañero de trabajo estaba siendo acusado de estafa. Me pareció completamente inverosímil. Sin embargo, como era de esperarse, la murmuración no tardó en extenderse, llegando a oídos de cada vez más personas.
Ante la magnitud que estaba tomando el asunto y la evidente difamación que afectaba su reputación e incluso su bienestar personal, mi compañero de trabajo no tuvo más opción que tomar acciones legales. Cuando la noticia de la demanda se hizo pública, la actitud de aquellos que habían propagado el rumor cambió radicalmente. De pronto, adoptaron una postura de total desconocimiento e indiferencia fingida, como si hubieran sufrido una repentina amnesia. Nadie quería asumir ningún tipo de responsabilidad o consecuencia penal.
Recuerdo una reunión que se llevó a cabo en mi antiguo trabajo para abordar este problema, que ya se había convertido en un verdadero escándalo institucional. En medio de la acalorada discusión, la persona que había iniciado el rumor sobre la supuesta estafa, al verse acorralada por la posibilidad de ser encarcelada, rompió en llanto y expresó su profundo arrepentimiento. Confesó que no tenía ninguna base sólida para sus falsas aseveraciones y que todo había sido producto de un malentendido. Jamás imaginé que un rumor pudiera tener un impacto tan dañino en la vida de una persona.
Afortunadamente, la persona afectada por la difamación, con generosidad, le ofreció al responsable del rumor la oportunidad de disculparse. Le pidió que ofreciera una disculpa pública a través de una emisora radial local, aclarando los hechos y desmintiendo las falsas acusaciones.
Siempre es importante pensar antes de hablar. Evita causar daño con tus palabras.

Thinking back to a past event, an image comes to mind of myself sitting, enjoying some fresh air, when suddenly, a rumor began to swirl around me: a co-worker was being accused of swindling. It seemed completely implausible to me. As expected, however, the gossip soon spread, reaching the ears of more and more people.
Faced with the magnitude of the matter and the obvious defamation affecting his reputation and even his personal well-being, my co-worker had no choice but to take legal action. When the news of the lawsuit became public, the attitude of those who had spread the rumor changed radically. Suddenly, they adopted a posture of total ignorance and feigned indifference, as if they had suffered a sudden amnesia. No one wanted to assume any kind of responsibility or criminal consequence.
I remember a meeting that took place at my old job to address this problem, which had already become a real institutional scandal. In the midst of the heated discussion, the person who had started the rumor about the alleged scam, finding herself cornered by the possibility of imprisonment, burst into tears and expressed her deep regret. She confessed that she had no solid basis for her false claims and that it had all been the product of a misunderstanding. I never imagined that a rumor could have such a damaging impact on a person's life.
Fortunately, the person affected by the defamation generously offered the person responsible for the rumor a chance to apologize. He asked him to offer a public apology through a local radio station, clarifying the facts and denying the false accusations.
It is always important to think before you speak. Avoid causing harm with your words.
Nadie desea sentirse víctima del engaño, pero en una sociedad donde sus miembros validan el rumor como una poderosa fuerza socializadora, irónicamente no queda más remedio que, considerando que no existan otras excepciones, adaptarse y encontrar una verdad esclarecedora que apacigüe las aguas agitadas por el rumor.
Dotados de herramientas como el análisis crítico y la búsqueda de fuentes de información confiable, contamos con el poder de actuar como un sol radiante que disipa las nubes grises del rumor. En casos extremos, cuando el rumor no se atenúa con celeridad, el recurso a la acción judicial, aunque vergonzoso e indeseado, se convierte en una medida necesaria para proteger la reputación e intereses de las personas afectadas.
Mis recomendaciones son simples: Consulta, asesórate y toma una decisión informada. Sé riguroso en la búsqueda de información. Si aún no has logrado tener una idea clara sobre las circunstancias que originaron el rumor, no emitas opiniones o especulaciones que puedan ocasionar más problemas, ya que esto suele generar tensión emocional innecesaria.
Sé que a veces puede ser complejo y agotador realizar el esfuerzo intelectual necesario para esclarecer la verdad y desmentir el rumor, pero es más importante que te esfuerces en ello que involucrarte en una situación que podría causarte un dolor más profundo que un golpetazo.
El rumor es una prueba de nuestra verdadera fortaleza.

No one wants to feel like a victim of deception, but in a society where its members validate rumor as a powerful socializing force, ironically there is no choice but to adapt and find an enlightening truth that will calm the waters of rumor.
Equipped with tools such as critical analysis and the search for reliable sources of information, we have the power to act as a radiant sun that dispels the gray clouds of rumor. In extreme cases, when the rumor does not abate quickly, recourse to legal action, although embarrassing and undesirable, becomes a necessary measure to protect the reputation and interests of those affected.
My recommendations are simple: Consult, get advice and make an informed decision. Be rigorous in your search for information. If you have not yet managed to get a clear idea about the circumstances that originated the rumor, do not issue opinions or speculations that may cause more problems, as this usually generates unnecessary emotional tension.
I know that sometimes it can be complex and exhausting to make the intellectual effort necessary to clarify the truth and disprove the rumor, but it is more important to make the effort than to get involved in a situation that could cause you deeper pain than a slap in the face.
The rumor is a test of our true strength.
