Murals tend to come and go. I'm sure most of the ones featured in my Mexican Murals series have been painted over long ago, and in some cases even the walls themselves that carried the images are gone. That is certainly the case with the last mural I saw in the Parque Lira, a small park right in the vicinity of my neighborhood of Mexico City.
However, as it is often the case, new wall paintings tend to appear all over the place, including on the wall of the library located right in the Parque Lira. And as it is most appropriate, the image itself is very book-themed, at least partially.
Chic and Lobos Stacking Houses
The mural is divided into four parts, with the two outside ones being quite similar. Both show a guy from the back, pushing a wheelbarrow, carrying houses, which they pile onto one another, making two great heaps of houses... Okay. The two individuals can be identified as Handerson Chic and Amanda Lobos, who are two of the artists who created this mural. You can see Chic's link on the two images on the side, and Lobos' one under the second image.
Out of all four (essentially three), this one is my personal favorite. It shows a multi-faced character immersed into some deep reading, with strange creatures, who have possibly emerged from her reading, looking over her shoulder.
Reading Gives Wings to the Mind
The last image, created by Santiago Savi, is also very reading oriented, with books taking the shape of winged creatures, birds, bees, and butterflies, who remain flapping about the readers mind. Also very cool.
This post is also my entry to CCC's weekly Street Art Contest, where you can see lots of amazing murals from all around the world. Go ahead and check them out, and if you know any spectacular murals in your area, why don't you post about it, and share it in the contest? Looking forward!
