Double World Rally champion Kalle Rovanpera is another Toyota driver to test in Portugal, and ahead of WRC Safari Rally Kenya. Why do they test in Portugal? Because registered WRC teams are prohibited from testing outside of Europe.
But the Portugal area is really great for rallying and testing purposes with roads kinda similar to these in Kenya in a way. You just can't replicate fesh fesh as in Kenya but team coordinators always look for the best.
Rovanpera jr didn't start the season from his dreams and O would say that Hankook tires are the main reason for this. Hankook rubber just isn't on the level of Pirelli but they say it is stronger then Pirellis.
