Here is a clip from yesterday's INLEO AMA that addresses the recent drama around Hive Witnesses. There's been other blog posts, threads, comments, private and public room chatter, DMs, etc. that have also been hashing this out.
Let's start from the beginning - about 10 days ago, we released a clip from one of the AMAs. In that clip, we essentially just talked about Hive Governance, the top 20 witnesses and our personal opinions on all of the above.
If you know me then you know I hate drama. It's stupid and unproductive. Frankly, a complete waste of time.
That being said, I have a tendency to get dragged into drama and so does LEO. We pay 0.0001% of our attention to it. That's probably why INLEO is so highly productive and innovates in ways for Hive that are unprecedented when it comes to building an interface for this blockchain. Our recent Dash integrations, partnerships, payments platform, inventing microblogging on Hive, etc. shall serve as plenty of references (if you'd like more, dig into what INLEO has done or better yet - go to https://inleo.io and explore the UI to find out all the features that exist on INLEO and don't exist anywhere else).
Let's say something very clear: again, I despise drama. Total waste of time...
With that out of the way, this clip from yesterday's AMA addresses the entire situation in 1 shot. I will not be replying to any more comments, private nor public chat rooms, posts, etc. about this specific overdramaticized situation.
Our Opinions
Mitch is my friend and we've been doing podcasts together for years. He doesn't work on INLEO, he just cares about LEO and Hive. I own millions of HIVE personally. He owns a lot of HIVE as well. We care about this blockchain. We want Hive to succeed.
Us merely bringing up the fact that there are some witnesses who could be doing more for Hive or who are no longer active on the blockchain in a capacity that is sufficient - in our opinion - is a good thing for Hive.
Afterall, do we want a blockchain where there is success and open discussion or do we want a blockchain with rent seekers who attack anyone who has any opinion that doesn't align with theirs?
Personally, I'd rather have the former.
This all said, I'm sure we're about to see some comments below that try to shoot down my opinion. Stating whatever they feel like stating.
Let them do it. They may even have some valid points. The LF witness - coincidentally? ironically? - went down right after this video was posted. I am working to get it back online ASAP. Will be less than a few days until we are caught up on blocks and back in action. I'm sure some will bring that up and it's a valid point. Does that invalidate my opinion on witnesses? I sure don't think so. But feel free to comment if you do think so.
What I will not do is apologize for bringing up this conversation about Witnesses.
I personally speak to Hivers every day - because I am hyperactive on my own product: INLEO & Threads.
I am bringing up a gripe that many people on Hive have when it comes to witnesses and some people (not all) who are in positions of power on this blockchain.
More Drama
Prepare for even more drama. I don't have a taste for it. If you leave a comment that is dramatic, I will ignore the drama and focus purely on the substance.
If you're a Hive witness, I invite you onto the INLEO Podcast at any time. I would love to do a one-on-one chat with you so that you can voice your opinions to the community. There are so many *awesome witnesses who do so much for this blockchain.
There are some who simply sit back witnessing blocks and stirring up drama. Frankly, becuase they have nothing better to do as they aren't actually adding value to the chain outside of just witnessing blocks.
I am of the OPINION - yes, it's still legal to have those - that a witness is about more than just witnessing blocks. I will hold this opinion firmly. Feel free to disagree with it but I know many other Hivers who hold the same opinion.
Conclusion
Watch the video for my thoughts in more detail.
I will TLDR; this with: we are on the same fucking team. Act like it.
Join the conversation on INLEO Threads: https://inleo.io. We're using the hashtag "#hive" to talk about Hive, witnesses, etc. on a regular basis. Let's put it all on-chain and have productive conversations to grow Hive together.
