Greetings to every member of the Vibes community; I'm expressing my appreciation for the dynamic activities taking place within the community. Although I had not yet created my content, I had been actively engaging by listening to various entries, commenting, onboarding a long-gone Hivian in the vibes community (just one at the moment), and voting for the top six favorites. As the competition progresses, I look forward to showcasing my talent, but I wanted to first share my thoughts on the topic of discussion; Talent and attitude among young upcoming talented artists
The music industry has evolved to embrace youths, transforming from a realm once dominated by older folks. Gone are the days when only old folks are found on the stage. Today, parents support their children's aspirations by encouraging and supporting their wards' musical prowess.
John once expressed his dream, "I would love to be a musician." Despite initial skepticism from his dad, he got the needed support. The rise of young artists pursuing their passions is indeed a triumph for the industry. However, we must reflect on the behaviors exhibited by some of these emerging talents. Music is facing a flattening challenge because of what artists are becoming. Music transcends the notes; it encompasses the essence of the artists themselves.
Artists spend time thinking, creating, innovating, mastering instruments and beats, and working on their voice by honing it just to thrive on the path they tread. And thanks to this indomie generation, it has paved the way for a lot of crafty folks. But is that enough? Some elements have been overlooked.
The personality of the artist, character, integrity, and self-respect have been a topic of focus in recent times because a lot of artists who lack these qualities easily rise to fame solely on the strength of their talents.
A talented artist has a good knowledge of vocals. Controlling the notes and hitting the right pitch isn't a problem. He composes songs that stand out. The lyrics have a deep meaning, and stories reflect in their vibes.
A truly gifted artist possesses not only exceptional vocal abilities but also the capacity to create compelling songs with profound lyrics that resonate with listeners. Authenticity is their hallmark.
But talent isn't complete without a good attitude. There was an artist I so much admired. He sings in parables. His lyrical coordination is top-notch. He was the one that made me fall in love with his genre of music. But something happened.
I attended a show featuring him and his performance was truly excellent, making the ticket worth every penny. After the show, I lingered outside to make some calls. When the artist emerged with his bodyguards, I noticed a fan nearby who was enthusiastically praising him. However, instead of graciously accepting the compliments, the artist reacted violently, slapping the fan and berating him for being too close to his car. He shouted, questioning the fan's sanity and the value of what he was touching, all while delivering more slaps. I watched this unfold with disgust, very disappointed by the artist's behavior.
As the guy silently turned away, I felt compelled to shout his name and confront him about his behavior. Unfortunately, his guards quickly pursued me, but I managed to escape. It was disheartening to see such a lack of respect from someone I hold in high regard. He displayed a remarkably rude and disrespectful attitude.
I was heartbroken that day. I stopped listening to his songs because I realized he was fake. He didn't practice what he preaches in his songs. All the nice lyrics didn't reflect in his attitude.
There are loads of excellent singers out there with exceptional talent but lack good attitudes and manners. A singer/musician is a public figure. People watch every step they take.
In my church, a talented singer was banned from climbing the altar due to her difficult attitude towards fellow choir members. Although she was recognized as the best singer the church had ever seen, her rudeness, arrogance, and saucy demeanor ultimately led to her removal from the choir. Unable to accept her inability to perform, she eventually decided to leave the church.
Attitudes can make or break. Having the right attitude toward people makes us more accepted and respected, and it helps us stand out in whatever we do. As more youths flood the music industry, we must keep singing it to their ears. Attitude is as important as the talent. Only then can we have musicians who care for others and not only after fame.
It's nice reflecting on this. My next post will be accompanied by a promotional video.
My humble regards to all the judges, and everyone doing great things here on vibes. ❤️❤️
