From Extravagance to Entrepreneurship: My friend's journey to success

Joy was my course mate and roomie at college, she had the kind of lifestyle every girl wished to have, you know always having that classy look, she bought the latest iPhone then, always on expensive designer wear, and her scent was heavenly, her favorite quote was "life was too short" not to enjoy your life to the fullest, not that she had rich parent, but she was gifted with the brains of the einstein kind, very smart, from her story right from her primary school days she could solve higher level mathematical equations, how she did it, I don't know, some rumor has it that she had a glitch in her brains and the side effect was the positive outcomes we see her do with mathematics, so right from her first year in college, she had lots of students always come to her for help, which she monetized and in turn gained popularity, connection and of course wealth to some extent, but as all human, she had her flaws which sadly were the extravagance lifestyle.

Due to the connections she had, she was lucky to always receive help from students from influential backgrounds, as much as her extravagance was, so was her generosity. After one of her shopping trips for new clothes and shoes, those were are weaknesses, she was a fashionista, I thought and opened up to her as this has been bothering me for some time, why don't you invest in a business, since you don't save, we've has this having a savings discussion for so long, she wouldn't bulge, so as a good friend, I thought of other ways I could get her to invest rather than spend it all and live the moment, I know that life can be short, but your short life could still have 5 to 6 decades away.

She actually surprised me by saying she would give this advice a thought, knowing the kind of hard-hearted person she is when she decides on something, giving it a thought was actually a progress. Luckily, that same week, some none governmental organization, came to our school to train some students in any skill they might have an interest in, and she went for fashion designing, while I went for makeup artistry at that time, the irony is that I'm a fashion designer now, lol, trying different paths before arriving on your destination huh.

Back to Joy, from that first step at school, she developed maire interest in fashion and after a year if training, for the first time, she minimized her extravagant lifestyle, saved and got herself a fashion house for her fashion business, it's been almost almost a decade now, and now, she is one of the top designers in my country, remember she is beauty with brains, so putting all of that energy into an investment in business paid off rather than living in the moment, she didn't bother looking for a job after school, as she Id already an entrepreneur and even an employer of labour, that investment in knowledge and being practical with it helped her become the boss lady she desired to be, she can still afford all the good life she longed for now, not at the expense of her future because she took the advice of investing with the opportunities she had while in school, imagine, she didn't listen and spent it all to live the moment because life is too short, she would have probably be an employee on a 9-5 white collar job, with a salaryy that can't sustain, and only wishing she had used her opportunities well, thankfully, it us a positive story for her.

Living a comfortable or luxurious lifestyle isn't a crime if you can afford them, but don't live extravagantly at the expense your future, because trust me, you will be filled with regrets later on.
