Hello community friends! Today I want to share an interesting recipe for you to enjoy. Every region in this country has a unique culinary heritage that is certainly very tempting for us to try. The cuisine always offers unmatched uniqueness that makes tourists interested in tasting it, one of the most alluring examples is the lupis cake.
What is lupis cake?
Lupis cake is a classic traditional cake with a soft and legit texture. Lupis cake is one of the many desserts made from glutinous rice wrapped in banana leaves, the aroma of the fragrant banana leaves then the green color of the banana leaves and the triangular shape are the characteristics of this cake. Served coated with grated coconut and drizzled with brown sugar sauce or candied palm fruit, creating a sweet and savory blend of flavors. Usually this cake is perfect to eat in the morning with warm tea. Eating this cake is enough to make our stomachs full! This cake is one of the favorite foods of all time.
But today I want to enjoy lupis cake with candied palm fruit that I bought from a candied palm. In my personal opinion, this cake is more delicious when combined with palm sugar candy, because it is thicker and has a natural sweet taste. Here I want to explain a little about candied palm fruit. Have you ever heard of or tasted it?
The palm sugar tree (Arenga pinnata) is a palm plant that produces palm sugar water, in my area it is called ie jok. Palm sugar or also called aren itself is a sweet liquid that comes from the juice of the stem or sap of the flower bunches of the aren plant. This liquid is what will later be processed to make candied palm fruit. I will not explain how to process it here because I have never seen it. Without further ado, let's go straight to the process of making lupis cake.
Ingredient needed:
- 1 kg of glutinous rice
- 1 tsp salt
Ingredients for wrapping:
- Banana leaves
- Skewers
Coating ingredients:
- 1 slightly old coconut
- A pinch of salt
Preparation:
First: wash the glutinous rice. Soak the rice for 15 minutes, add salt. Stir well
Second: cut the banana leaves into pieces as needed. Prepare the skewers. Banana leaf shape, put 1 tablespoon of rice into the leaf, close it when wrapping so that no rice comes out during the boiling process, then secure it with a skewer until the rice runs out.
Third: boil for 1 and a half hours. I boil using firewood to save gas hehe. Remove and drain. Wait until the lupis is cold.
Fourth: prepare grated coconut, add a little salt. Stir well
Fifth: unwrap the banana leaf on the lupis and coat it in grated coconut. Arrange on a serving plate and pour brown sugar sauce or sweets.
The dish is finished..
The ingredients are simple and very easy to make, right? A delicious dessert that makes your tongue sway. This lupis cake has a soft, legit and aromatic texture, making this dish more special, of course it is appetizing for those who like it, especially me, making it addictive hehe.
