Splinterlands | Year 6 Welcome To The Family Accumulation #2

in voilk •  last month

After 5 years of grinding Splinterlands, I'm now ready to upgrade my collection to Max Level cards as prices are extremely low at the moment.

    Card Devaluation Problem!

The main problem in Splinterlands right now is that the entire economic model is broken due to extreme card devaluation. The way I see it, either Splinterlands totally goes down the drain and the project shuts down or cards at some point will again get a fair value closer to what they were paid for. I just don't see a world where enough players would buy the new cards if it's a sure thing that they will lose 90%+ of their value over 2 years.

At this time, it also feels like not that many understand that card values are absolute key for the game to succeed as there are even proposals to print more cards out of thin air thinking it will help the game and further reduction of the reward pool in Wild by introducing a tax to play.

Every new proposal makes more people leave while nothing really is done to get new players in. All of this right now puts Splinterlands in a position where MAX Level cards are the norm and affordable in Wild. This very much reminds me of the time when Level 1 cards where barely affordable during the peak of the play2earn hype a couple of years ago. That was a time that nobody was willing the sell while that afterward was the only right play. Right now nobody is willing to buy which makes me a bit more greedy to the point where I pulled the trigger on starting to move my deck to max levels.

I do believe this problem at some point will need to get fixed and Splinterlands as a game on its own is good enough to survive this mass exodus.

Weclome To The Family New Max Level Cards

I continue to use HBD Blogging earnings to reinvest in Splinterlands buying some more cards to get them at MAX level. This accumulation and collection aspect of the game I have always really enjoyed. I'm kind of in between fomo and a belief that cards could still go quite a bit lower so I'm in no rush to get everything all at once. If prices go up I don't mind as it will put me at a profit based on the recent buys and if they go down further I will be able to pick them up cheaper.

    Welcome To The Family!

These are the new Max Level cards that I managed to welcome to my Family (collection) in the last week...

    Summoners

Summoners continue to be the most expensive and it's also had to upgrade a Level 6 to level 8 as you can't buy exactly 55 copies at the cheapest price. Most leveled-up cards that are dumped are either max level or have 80 Copies combined which made me overcombine. I added 2 Chaos Legion Summoners at max level which cost me 10$ and 6$ to get the Earth Obsidian which is quite useful and the Life General Sloan for ~6$ which is the cheapest upgrade.

    Expensive Strong Cards!
Last week, I upgraded The Kraken as one of the older more expensive Legendary cards, this week it was the Spirit Miner which gets 1 extra Magic Damage from 2 to 3 making quite the difference. The combination of extra Speed and Blind makes it one of the cards I must play in all of the fun Speed-centered Decks.

I also upgraded my Queen Mycelia which actually becomes a lot more useful at Max level with the Rust ability and it also now is useful as I have the Obsidian Summoner leveled up. I remember buying this for 10$+ while right now combined it goes for just 0.65$ a copy. The Baakjira is one of the cards I lose a lot against and need to use more myself. He fits well in a deck with my Possibilus and the Kulu Mastermind Legendary Soulbound Reward Card.

    Old Reward Cards
These card pretty much go close to the DEC burn value at peg price so there should mainly be upside price potential.

The Jared Scar is probably the most fun monster in the game if you are able to get it to work. The Upgrade gives it +1 Melee attack and +1 Health which makes a big difference. The Venator Kinjo is a card that you need for the annoying Poison ruleset. It does give an extra Amplify ability at max level which can be useful. The Djinn Biljka is one of those cards that I never use but at just 5$ for a max level it's just ridiculously cheap. The Demented Shark Finally is an older reward card that fits in well in my Possiblilus deck as it can attack from 2nd place and gives all melee monsters 1 extra Damage.

    Other Cards

The 3 Earth Cards I leveled up after getting the Obsidian and in the cars of the Mycelic Slipspawn and the Regal Peryton I actually at once bought a maw level as it was way cheaper compared to upgrading my Level 6.

    New Soulbound Max Levels
I did buy the batch of Guaranteed Legendaries and mananaged to get 2 more soulbound Legendary cards to max level. This were both the death Legendary Monsters. I still have quite some way to go on the legendaries as some I haven't even at Level 3 yet.

    Conclusion!

Even though I can't say I really like what is happening to Splinterlands lately, I still am finding a lot of fun playing the game and this next move to get My collection toward MAX Level while prices are this low also makes the game a lot more fresher again. I will continue to accumulate and bring regular reports on the progress that I'm making.
