Exploring the world of Bollywood, I am not a fan of those genres, I watch them only when highly recommended by someone. There are some actors that, once I realize their presence in a movie, I don't need any recommendations from, and I will guarantee myself they will surely deliver.
I can't tell how much I have switched from Bollywood to Kdramas and other movie types. There were times when Bollywood was the talk of the town, if you don't watch it then you must’ve been missing out big time.
One of my favorites back then was ABCD's “AnyBody Can Dance”. It was a movie with dancing competitions. One thing people dislike about Bollywood is the time they waste on singing and dancing in the movies. There are times when those songs and dances give off vibes, but not always.
ABCD delivered the same. I so much enjoyed watching it that I memorized all of the songs they sang in it.
I have watched many others, and also enjoy their songs too. I watched a Hrithik Roshan movie titled Mohenjo Daro. There Is nothing stopping me from singing all of the songs in that movie. It remains one of my top-watched Bollywood movies.
Secret Superstar
I doff my hat when it comes to Aamir Khan. No one can come closer. From 3 Idiots, PK, like Star on Earth, dangal, and other movies he realized I am always watching them with so much joy and attention.
He delivers one of the best movies in the Bollywood industry. Movies with morals that will get you to understand what it means to watch a movie. Little did he just act for the money but for his passion for the industry.
The Plot
Secret Superstar was all about a young girl in her teenage years, Inisa Malik who had a vision and passion for music. She really loves to sing and she got support from her mother, but her father was gravely against it. Her father turned out to be an abusive one who would always beat his wife.
Despite the hurdles, Najma, Inisa's mother, struggled to get her daughter a laptop so she could continue with her musical career. Out of fear of her father noticing she was still making music, she decided to have her face covered and publish her content anonymously.
She started building a lot of followers on her YouTube channel and then gradually became famous for a hit song she published. She was so happy that her father found out about her secret and made her throw away her laptop. It was almost a dead end for her not until Shakti Kumar showed up.
He is a movie director and promoter, he did well to help Inisa and her mother. At the end of it Inisabecame the superstar she has always inspired to become. She was called on stage to sing and was rewarded. At that point, she unveiled her face to the world and got her mother to take all the pride.
Reviews
There are a lot of life morals I got to pick from the movie. The first is that no matter the condition one finds himself or the background one comes from, there is always room for improvement.
Consistency truly matters, and there is no reason to give up. If she had given up on her dreams then there is no way she would encounter the life-changing opportunities that came her way.
Another interesting aspect of it is for parents who don't want their children to follow their passion. 90% of parents force their kids to choose a path they want and don't care about what the child truly wants. There should be room for the kids to grow and follow their passion, guidance is what should be done as parents.
The songs in the movie are truly outstanding. I had to download all of them to my playlist and keep listening to them. Secret Superstar is one movie I can repeat several times and not get tired of it.
In conclusion
The actors and actresses played an amazing role in this movie. If I were to rank the movie on a scale of 10, then it would have an 8/10 rating. It has an impactful storyline and plot twist. The suspense isn't bad either. If you have a pick for drama, motivation, and music, then I recommend this movie.
