Today's food adventure: Indonesian, Chinese, and Vietnamese cuisine!

in voilk •  5 months ago

I went on a food adventure at the Queen Street! My lunch was a blast because I was able to munch on a variety of cuisines from all over the world. Being able to try authentic Indonesian food is an experience that I rarely have so today's meal made me happy. The dish is so good that I'm already wishing that I can come back tomorrow for another meal.

The donut was a Japanese-style sweet dessert, and The soya bean with black pearls was a Chinese-style drink. The rice dish is an Indonesian grilled chicken.

Before I dig into every food that I ate for my lunch, let me share with you some of the photos of my stroll around the Bugis area.

From the Kampong Glam area, I walked along Northbridge Road, passed by Victoria Street, and then went straight to Queen Street where the Albert Food Centre is.

I saw a cool BMW near the intersection of Jalan Pinang & Northbridge Road. I can't help but notice the stunning yellow color so I pulled my phone and took a snapshot of it.

The weather was too warm to walk on the street so I decided to pass through the Bugis Junction shopping mall and find a way to go to Queen Street. While on my way to the Bugis+ shopping mall, I passed by the Shinfuni to get a piece of the Hokkaido Volcano Donut!

There are plenty of options to choose from but the one that caught my eye is the Hokkaido Volcano Donut. It's the simplicity of it that made me decide to go for it.

From this shop, I found my way to the link bridge to Bugis+ shopping mall.

From there, I went down to Bugis Street which is the place next to the Albert Food Centre.

My first stop was to get myself a nice drink! It was too warm outside so I wanted something chilled and fun to drink; a Soya Bean drink with Black Pearls is something that I would enjoy. There was a long queue so I took it as a sign to get a large cup of it for S$2 only.

After reserving a table, I went to queue at Anthony Indonesian Cuisine food stall to order the Sweet Sauce Indonesian Grilled Chicken.

There are plenty of savory-spicy dishes but I still order for the sweet-savory style grilled chicken.

On the side, I ordered the famous Petai or Stinky Beans. I was surprised to learn that a small serving of it would cost me S$3 which is more expensive than the Grilled Chicken rice set per kilogram basis.

There's a subtle flavor or stink to it so I didn't mind it at all. I like the crunch of the beans and the slightly spicy sauce that comes together in this dish.

For the main dish, I ordered the Sweet Sauce Grilled Chicken meal set. This is one of the popular dishes from Indonesian cuisine. Personally, I like the blend of sweet and savory sauce on grilled meat.

For the sweet treat, I'm having the Hokkaido Volcano donut and it was my first time trying this food & flavor. It's different from the usual donuts because this one is light and fluffy, and it has the right amount of filling inside.

It looks heavy but it's light enough for me to finish it even after the meal that I had.

After this heavy meal, I went outside for another round of strolling around the Queen Street area. I was fully satisfied with my meal and it feels great to be able to try new cuisines/food today. I will define come to this place and try to do their spot.
