Hola hiver's de esta comunidad lectora! ,hoy les traigo una reseña de un libro que leí hace unos años ,y me ha encantado,es una opción bastante popular en la literatura juvenil y joven adulto ,con toques de fantasía y romance, el primer libro de la saga los habitantes del aire ,escrito por la veterana de la fantasía juvenil Holly Black ,y para acompañar esta reseña les he preparado algunos fan-arts con los personajes , espero que lo disfruten !

Sinopsis

Today I bring you a review of a book that I read a few years ago, and I loved it, it is a quite popular option in youth and young adult literature,With touches of fantasy and romance, the first book in the Dwellers of the Air saga, written by youth fantasy veteran Holly Black,and to accompany this review I have prepared some fan-arts with the characters, I hope you enjoy it!

Synopsis

Me dí una relectura estos días para refrescar mi memoria debido a que leí el libro hace tiempo y solo recordaba muy poco de los detalles de la trama , pero al releer la magia estaba justo allí ✨,tal como la dejé , este es un libro bastante juvenil ,con un tropo establecido de enemy to lovers interesante, tiene un ritmo un poco lento que es una de las cosas que le veo de desventaja , y que a veces a gregan tantos elementos nuevos sobre la construcción del mundo, el sistema monárquico, y todo el sistema mágico que a veces suele ser abrumador.
Sacando lo negativo, vamos ahora con todo lo positivo que es bastante, es un libro algo oscuro , dónde vemos a las hadas o Fae como seres crueles y altivos, y es que sí lo tuyo es la fantasía sabrás que ciertamente los seres feéricos no son precisamente los más bondadosos, desde las leyendas antiguas hablando de los niños humanos robados , e intercambiados por estos seres para sus planes , hasta sus encantamientos con el fin de usar a los humanos como esclavos, y es que el Príncipe Cruel plantea una monárquia llena de seres despreciables que se odian entre sí y pelean con las verdades a medias y mentiras enmascaradas para hacerse con el poder.
Vamos con Jude Duarte quien es nuestra protagonista , y la razón por la que amo esta saga , Jude es un personaje moralmente gris y bien planteado , que vemos desde el primer momento lucha con el increíble terror que siente hacia esta "vida" ,y es que ser arrebatada del mundo humano que conocía ,habiendo presenciado el asesinato de sus padres y siendo criada apartir de allí en la corte Feérica por el mismo hombre que le quitó la vida a sus padres no es la cosa más sana, y sin embargo vemos en Jude a una luchadora que a pesar de estar totalmente asustada,se impulsa día a día para poder pertenecer a este sitio cruel ,y ser aceptada como uno más de ellos , es que siendo humana (básicamente un ser muy inferior debido a su mortalidad y su vulnerabilidad ante cualquier hechizo de los Faes) nadie la acepta y se lo dejan muy en claro , eso que Jude tiene la ventaja de contar con la protección de Manoc el General del Rey y padre adoptivo de Jude y su hermana (/asesino cofcof) y quién las ha tomado bajo su protección dándoles una crianza tan rica y privilegiada como la de los nobleza , lo cual pone a Jude en el mismo círculo social en dónde convive el Principe Cardan ,el hijo menor del Rey,pero a él lo mencionaremos después.
Si hay algo que me gusta de Jude es su vulnerabilidad , ella nos expresa lo mal que se siente al no pertenecer , lo mucho que le duele el ser mas débiles que todos , el miedo y terror de no poder defender a los que ama, a medida que pasa el libro Jude pasa por situaciones que nos saca a relucir como ella enmascara sus miedos con impulsos de Valentía, Jude simplemente no se deja vencer ella tiene un objetivo y es demostrarle a todos que puede ser tan fuerte como un caballero (el cuál de hecho es su sueño ), un puesto para el que nadie cree que puede llegar a lograr ,ni siquiera Madoc que la ha estado entranando desde niña .
Me gusta que va explorando su lado más estratégico, y ambicioso , se consigue alianzas en la corte ella sola, qué empieza a desafiar más a sus bullies y está dispuesta a llegar a últimas instancias con tal de conseguir lo que quiere ,incluso cuando vemos que se enfrenta a la decisión de asesinar ,contempla como aún sabiendo lo mal que se sintió,es algo para lo que es terriblemente buena ,algo que lejos de asustarla,le agrada.
Este fan art ,lo hice para representarla , Jude usa un peinadito de cuernitos que es la cosa más adorable ,lo hice con un vestido verde y joyas doradas imaginándomela en el baile de coronación.

I gave myself a re-read these days to refresh my memory because I read the book a long time ago and only remembered very little of the details of the plot, but upon rereading the magic was right there ✨, just as I left it, this is a fairly juvenile book, with an interesting established enemy to lovers trope, It has a slightly slow pace, which is one of the things that I see as a disadvantage, and that sometimes they add so many new elements to the construction of the world, the monarchical system, and the entire magical system that sometimes tends to be overwhelming.
Taking out the negative, let's now go with all the positive things, which is quite a bit, it is a somewhat dark book, where we see the fairies or Fae as cruel and haughty beings, And if fantasy is your thing, you will know that certainly fairy beings are not exactly the kindest, since the ancient legends talking about stolen human children, and exchanged by these beings for their plans, even their enchantments in order to use humans as slaves, and the Cruel Prince proposes a monarchy full of despicable beings who hate each other and fight with half-truths and masked lies to seize power.
Let's go with Jude Duarte who is our protagonist, and the reason why I love this saga, Jude is a morally gray and well-posed character, who we see from the first moment fights with the incredible terror he feels towards this "life" and being taken from the human world she knew, having witnessed the murder of her parents and being raised from there in the Faerie court by the same man who took her life to their parents is not the healthiest thing And yet we see in Jude a fighter who, despite being totally scared, pushes herself day by day to be able to belong to this cruel place ,and being accepted as one of them, is that being human (basically a very inferior being due to her mortality and her vulnerability to any Fae spell) Nobody accepts her and they make it very clear that Jude has the advantage of having the protection of Manoc, the King's General and adoptive father of Jude and his sister. (/assassin cofcof) and who has taken them under his protection, giving them an upbringing as rich and privileged as that of the nobility, which puts Jude in the same social circle where Prince Cardan, the King's youngest son, lives, but we will mention him later.
If there is something I like about Jude, it is her vulnerability. She expresses how bad she feels not belonging, how much it hurts her to be weaker than everyone, the fear and terror of not being able to defend those she loves, as the book progresses Jude goes through situations that bring out to us how she masks her fears with impulses of bravery, Jude simply does not let herself be defeated, she has one goal and that is to show everyone that she can be as strong as a knight (which in fact is her dream) a position that no one believes she can achieve, not even Madoc who has been training her since she was a child.
I like that she is exploring her more strategic and ambitious side, she makes alliances at court on her own, and she begins to challenge her bullies more and she is willing to go to the last resort to get what she wants, even when we see that she is faced with the decision to murder She contemplates how even knowing how bad she felt, it is something she is terribly good at, something that, far from scaring her, she likes.

Cardan Greenbriar,es nuestro co-protagonista y quién hace referencia
el título del libro , aunque realmente siento que la historia se enfoca más en darle un desarrollo a Jude,y en este libro no se enfoca tanto en conocerlo a él, Cardan solo lo vemos a través de los ojos de Jude y como está juzga sus acciones, es que Cardan es un príncipe criado en el mismo infierno y por ende ha tenido que aprender a manejarse allí , es despiadado y manipulador ,pero también encantador , realmente las cosas que le hace a Jude son horribles ,pero a medida que entendemos todo el contexto nos damos cuenta que Cardan realmente es el menos peligroso allí .Mientras Jude es todo dientes y espuelas , Cardan en realidad es más la presa de la corte, vemos a lo largo del libro que es una víctima tanto como es la misma Jude en esta corte de seres despiadados.
Algunos personajes interesantes son Vivienne, la hermana mayor de Jude a quien de cierta forma Jude envidia ya que ella si es en parte Feérica pero una herencia que viví odia por completo y que se ha esforzado en rechazar muy abiertamente.Tambien tenemos a Locke otro personaje astuto al que nunca se sabe muy bien a qué está jugando , si su deseo es por un plan en concreto o es simplemente crear caos.Y tenemos a la mejor hermana del mundo 🙃Taryn, la hermana gemela de Jude, que tanto como Jude siempre ha querido encajar pero a diferencia su hermana que a escogido un camino más de violencia y entrenamiento militar , Taryn se ha ido por conquistar a alguien y casarse con el fin de poder encajar en la corte , sus decisiones son ...cuestionables, sus acciones reprochables.
Este fan art ,no es del mismo estilo que el otro jejej , estoy practicando con mis personajes masculinos ya que no suelo hacerlos mucho, Cardan tiene un look muy andrógino, con una belleza salvaje ,le agregué una corona diferente para que no fuera la típica, y algunas joyas , para decorar sus oídos de fae y su linda colita.

Some interesting characters are Vivienne, Jude's older sister whom in a way Jude envies since she is partly Fairy but completely hates an inheritance that I lived. y which he has made an effort to reject very openly. We also have Locke, another cunning character who you never quite know what he is playing at, If your wish is for a specific plan or it is simply to create chaos And we have the best sister in the world 🙃Taryn, Jude's twin sister, That as much as Jude has always wanted to fit in, but unlike her sister who has chosen a more path of violence and military training, Taryn has gone to conquer someone and marry in order to fit in at court, her decisions are...questionable, her actions reprehensible.
This fan art is not the same style as the other one hehe, I'm practicing with my male characters since I don't usually make them much, Cardan has a very androgynous look, With a wild beauty, I added a different crown so that it wasn't the typical one, and some jewelry to decorate her fae ears and her cute little tail.
Si hay algo que me gustaría añadir es la extraña relación entre Jude y Manoc , típico tropo de figura paterna en la que la protagonista busca aprobación, no voy a negar que es muy buena y es una de las cosas que me gustó de este libro , realmente vemos la lucha que representa para ella el tener cariño o hasta cierta admiración por alguien que técnicamente es el responsable de la muerte de sus padres , pero que al mismo tiempo es la única figura paterna que tiene Jude , ella reflexiona sobre que es un hombre horrible y sediento de sangre y ambición,pero al mismo tiempo reconoce esos mismos deseos en ella. Es obvio que hay una administración mutua pero realmente disfruté en esa última parte del libro ,el entendimiento de Manoc al ver que Jude es realmente la mejor aprendiz,ya que ella misma lo supero ,lo cual me pareció súper gracioso porqué no puedo sacarme la idea de la cabeza de un Manoc como Logan Roy y una Jude siendo Kendall Roy cada vez que terminaba traicionando a su padre , jajjaja .
En fin , creo que es una muy buena opcion si te gusta la fantasía juvenil, es fresco y se lee rápido, en este primer libro no se siente tanto el romance ,pero en adelante se va desarrollando más a partir del segundo, si estás buscando un protagonista fuerte que se muestra vulnerable y va escalando para su desarrollo de bitch empoderada , este es tu libro.
Este fan art lo hice a bolígrafos de colores , quería hacer está pose de la chica que utiliza su cuchillo como guía para hacerse su delineado, porque amigos nuestra Jude es letal.

It's obvious that there is a mutual administration but I really enjoyed that last part of the book ,Manoc's understanding when he saw that Jude is really the best apprentice, since she surpassed him herself, which I found super funny why I can't get out the idea of the head of a Manoc like Logan Roy and a Jude being Kendall Roy every time he ended up betraying his father, hahaha.
Anyway, I think it is a very good option if you like youthful fantasy, it is fresh and reads quickly, in this first book you don't feel the romance as much,but from now on it develops more from the second, if you are looking for a strong protagonist who is vulnerable and escalates to her development as an empowered bitch, this is your book.
