A Revealed Trap
Damsel is a medieval fantasy movie written by Dan Mazeau the same writer of movies such as Fast X (2023) and Wrath of Titan (2012), directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo this is a Netflix production set to be released on March 8, 2024. The story follows an obedient damsel who agrees to marry a prince only to realize it was all a trap, betrayed by her husband’s family she is offered as a sacrifice to settle an ancestral debt and finds herself in a dangerous cave facing a fire spitting dragon. Unarmed only with her will to survive she must confront the beast and figure out a way to stay alive. The main role actress is played by Millie Bobby Brown as Princess Elodi, who in the cave decides to tear appart her dress and prepare to face the creature with a sword. She discovers that other women had been locked up there previously and it seems that none of them had left but no matter what she is decided to face the dragon win and return with the victory to her kingdom.

The story of Damsel began in March 2020 with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo announced as the director, the movie is an adaptation of the novel with the same name by writer Evelyn Skye, as usual adaptation are a delicate matter since true fans can get hurt based on missing details and changes on the story line. The movie was produced by Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum. On Damsel Millie Bobby Brown take the main role in the movie and also is an executive producer in it, she joined the cast the same year director was announced. The filming of this movie happen in different locations in Portugal, latter on production started in 2022 and was finished the same year, even though it went through same problems from 2023 like the Hollywood actors and writers strike everything went very smooth for a close to less than two year production over all, the person in charge to edit the movie was John Gilbert who is also an Academy Award for the movie Hacksaw Ridge (2016) and the music of this movie was created by David Flemin the same from the movie Dune, putting into perspective there is a lot of talent behind the scenes of Damsel.

The director of Damsel is Juan Carlos Fresnadillo who happen to also be a screenwriter and producer who started as a creator of short movie in the 1980s providing quite the expirience to this production, his IMDB is not that long to be honest. He improve his skills until he made his debut with Linked (1996), original name Esposados; and received an Oscar nomination for best live action short film, latter on in 2002 he won two Goya Awards for the thriller Intacto. He directed the sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later (2007), titles like Exterminio in Spain and Intruders (2011) latter on a fantastic horror thriller movie, some of this movies were a bit slow paced and its understandable if viewers found them boring at some point. Fresnadillo is known for creating a tense atmosphere in his movie and his visual style is a bit different and unique with his shots, he sets the Damsel to be another recognition in his career.
