Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Here we are again in what seems like a deja vu talking about what we could expect from Thursday onwards when a new date of the qualifying rounds begins. As it is already known, there are only 8 dates left, 24 points at stake of which Venezuela has 11; they usually go to the World Cups with 23 points, maybe one less or one more, but that is the average score. La Vinotinto has to win at least half of the remaining games, since the ideal would be to get 12 points to secure those 23 points. - We did not come here to lie, so yes, it is extremely difficult and even more so if we take into account the circumstances in which the national team has been playing.
So, what expectations could we have? - As trite and repetitive as it may sound, there should be a total and definitive change in the way matches are approached, images like those of Paraguay cannot be repeated. The thing is that from that game to Thursday's, not much time has passed, I don't know if in less than a month there has been that necessary change of chip. But let's talk a little about Brazil-Venezuela. There is one good news and two bad news. The good news is that Wilker Angel returns to the defensive line, his hierarchy was much needed in that line, while one of the bad news is that Yordan Osorio was left out of the call-up. We got one back but another one is injured.
The other bad news is that Soteldo will not be available due to the accumulation of cards. The absence of Yeferson will always be a sensitive loss due to the level of imbalance and play he provides. Otherwise, there are not many surprises in the list of called-up players, almost the same names as always. There is something that makes me very curious and that is to see if Bocha will give Machís and Navarro a chance to start. The former is having problems in Valladolid due to his “lack of commitment”, something we have seen in the national team, and the latter was not up to the task against Paraguay. If you ask me, Alexander Gonzalez should be the fullback next to Aramburu, who match after match is consolidating more and more.
But Brazil is also quite broken. Militao, Neymar, Rodrygo and Endrick will not be part of the squad, three of them due to injuries and the last one by technical decision. Militao's injury is of the utmost seriousness, a second ligament rupture, Neymar in his comeback match was injured again and Rodrygo has a muscular injury in his left leg. These are very big casualties for this selection, it is true that Neymar is not very transcendent at present but his mere presence could bring something to a Brazil somewhat apathetic in their game. I do not want to say that Vinicius and company will be an easy opponent but it is true that these circumstances must be taken advantage of to the maximum.
The first matchday will pit Paraguay against Argentina and Bolivia against Ecuador. I mention these two matches because Paraguayans, Bolivians and even Ecuador are the teams that are closest to Venezuela in terms of points (two points difference between the 4). Unfortunately we are entering a stage where we have to start linking the others, in this case Argentina would have to do the same and take the 3 points and a draw between ECU and BOL would be ideal. If one of them is going to win, it should be the southern teams. It is annoying and disappointing to be in this situation, at the beginning of the qualifiers we were very comfortable and confident, little by little that alternate reality was diluted and now we are not in precariousness but quite at the limit.
None of the above will be of any use if Venezuela does not win against Brazil, we are not ready for half measures or to settle for a draw at home. Against Paraguay it was vital to win, but we failed; against Brazil it is life or death to win, if we fail to do so we will fall into a spiral from which it will be difficult to get out. We have to consider that on Tuesday we go to Chile, a place that is very complicated in spite of the reality of that team, it is possible to win but we know that there is history between Chileans and Venezuelans, the 3-0 at the beginning of the qualifiers will be present in your mind. The truth? - I have no expectations, I go with caution, without expecting anything, the Vinotinto has demonstrated that it can be very lucid at times but a complete disaster at others.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
