Embracing Slow Living In A Fast-paced World.

We live in a fast-paced world today, and trying to catch up with the speed at which the world is moving can be really exhausting, no matter how strong we are. It's sad that many humans are caught up in a cycle of endless tasks, commitments, and obligations that wears them off not just physically but mentally and emotionally. Experiencing burnout has become a constant thing, and sometimes a lot of people think they have no other choice than to just keep pushing despite the stress they are piling on themselves.

The fear of missing out on many things in life keeps us on our feet almost always, but it's pointless to live under any form of pressure since that's what trying to catch up with the world does to people. If we are being realistic, the world has become really competitive, and in the bid to stay in vogue or productive, pushing ourselves more than we should has become the norm in society.

Never rush to be the first. Slow down and be your best. Life is not a race. It’s a playground to radiate your uniqueness.- Hiral Nagda

I have come to realize that the world will always be here, and it will keep moving. For clarity, we humans are the world, and the movement is all about one generation passing on while a new one emerges.

Every generation will always hand the baton to another, so there is no break, and it continues like that until God knows when. Catching up with the world seems impossible to me no matter how much we try, because one day our time will be up here despite still having so much to accomplish.

Moving at a fast pace with the world doesn't guarantee the best of life, and from my experience, it deprives people of a lot more than it's offering them.

Over a decade ago, I worked in a factory where we got paid for the job we did. Being new to the job made me work tirelessly because I needed money for my education as well as to support my family. The job was tedious, but the pay is good if you can dedicate more than half of a day to it.

I joined the trend of working 16–18 hours daily and was getting a fair pay every weekend, but my life took a different turn. After 2-3 weeks of tedious work, I always feel ill and spend a lot of my wages on medication.

Things went like that for some time until I decided to work conveniently. I don't push myself to work more than I should, and I also took breaks during work to rest, eat properly, and reach out to my loved ones since the job has created a huge gap between us.

Surprisingly, I realized that there was only a little difference between my weekly pay and that I didn't fall ill as usual. I became more productive in every aspect of my life other than just work with my new approach, and it made life more beautiful for me.

The experience opened my mind to the fact that taking breaks doesn't mean you are not serious about life or causing yourself a setback; instead, it helps you regain the strength to even be more productive.

Slow living or taking breaks goes beyond just regaining my strength, and it would amaze you how beneficial it is.

Like I mentioned earlier, keeping up with the speed at which the world moves is exhausting, and aside from that, it deprives us of enjoying moments worth living in for a while. A lot of people run in fast mode always, hoping to enjoy life at a particular but unfortunately, they never have the time to do so.

In between breaks, I take my time to enjoy beautiful moments and create beautiful memories.

I was on a call today with one of my former bosses who relocated abroad, and we spoke for over thirty minutes. We had a lot to talk about other than just work because we share the same perspective about taking breaks, and we were able to create moments together.

This lifestyle will always make you notice everything happening in your life, and nothing worth celebrating won't go uncelebrated.

Taking breaks can make me boast of keeping a perfect relationship with my family and friends because I create time for them during my breaks. We get to do different things together, and if I am being honest, these things help me mentally and emotionally as well.

I became a smart worker because my breaks were very important to me, and they taught me a lot about time management. It helped me create a balance between work and life; it became easy for me to prioritize what matters at a particular time. Despite embracing working smartly, my productivity level remains intact.

The impact of taking life slowly is numerous, and it's the same for everyone who embraces this style of living. Aside from everything I have mentioned, this lifestyle has helped improve my wellbeing.

There are times I get carried away with everything happening out there, but when I think about the consequences of trying to catch up with the world, I call myself back to order. It's not laziness, as many would think; I just choose to find balance, nurture my well-being, and rediscover the joy in every moment of life.
