Nuthatch next to the feeder

Today, after yesterday's snow and rain, I decided to go to the forest near the river and take some seeds to the birds. Probably during this bad period of weather no one fed the forest birds. And so it happened. The feeder was empty. I immediately poured some seeds into it and, having walked away a little, decided to wait and see who would fly to the feeder..

Two tits immediately appeared, took turns flying into the feeder and, taking one seed each, flew off to the branches of the tree. Suddenly, a nuthatch unexpectedly flew up to the feeder and quickly climbed inside. and started running there. Apparently he was looking for food. He didn't pay attention to the seeds.

Apparently he wasn’t hungry or didn’t like them. The tits that flew to the feeder after him patiently waited for him to leave the feeder. Not finding anything suitable, the nuthatch quickly flew up onto the trunk of a nearby tree.

I slowly, so as not to frighten him, began to approach this tree. I knew that this nuthatch would now look for food in the tree trunk. And so it happened, he began to quickly move up and down, thrusting his beak into the smallest cracks and recesses.

He constantly pulled something out of there and quickly swallowed it. It was hard for me to see because the sun was shining in my eyes and he was sitting quite high on a tree. It was not possible to get closer because the tree trunk was located on the very bank of the river and was tilted towards the river.

All my attempts to get closer ended in failure. The nuthatch was apparently alerted by the crunch of snow underfoot. He first hid behind a tree trunk, and then flapped his wings and flew to the other side of the river.
