Hola HIVE espero que todos se encuentren muy bien adquiriendo nuevos conocimientos y mejorando sus habilidades artísticas.
This week we continued with the woodcut workshop at the Museum of Fine Arts, taught by artist Gloria Rojas. This time we focused on creating series of woodcut prints to familiarize ourselves with the printing presses and also to get used to making each print neat and similar to the last. The matrix I used to create the series was the first design I had ever made: the root of a tree and its trunk, with a strong focus on the smallest details to give the print richness. This time I used red ink to print.
Esta semana continuamos con el taller de xilografía en el museo de Bellas Artes, dictado por la artista Gloria Rojas; esta vez nos enfocamos en realizar seriados de impresiones xilográficas para irnos familiarizando con las prensas y también acostumbrarnos a que cada impresión que hagamos sea pulcra y parecida a la anterior. La matriz que use para hacer el seriado, fue el primer diseño que anteriormente realice, la raíz de un árbol y su tronco con un gran enfoque en los detalles mínimos para darle riqueza a la impresión, en esta oportunidad use tinta roja para imprimir.
My colleagues in the workshop also produced excellent prints and boldly experimented with color mixing, producing very satisfying results. They have a bit more experience in woodcut printing, and I was able to learn a lot from them just by watching them work in the workshop.
Mis compañeras en el taller también realizaron muy buenas impresiones y experimentaron osadamente con las mezclas de colores generando unos resultados muy satisfactorios; ellas tienen un poco más de experiencia en la práctica de la xilografía, pude aprender mucho de ellas solo viendo como hacían sus trabajos en el taller.
Then I proceeded to finish the design of my second matrix, in this one I decided to make the figure of a moon, some small dots that resemble stars and a grass floor that generated a small distant perspective effect.
Luego procedí a culminar el diseño de mi segunda matriz, en esta decidí hacer la figura de una luna unos pequeños puntos que asemejen las estrellas y un piso de césped que generé un pequeño efecto de perspectiva lejana.
I've started testing by printing with the new matrix, but I feel like it still needs some improvements to ensure the image prints well on the paper. I need to continue to gouge the grooves in the matrix so that the empty space is clearly marked when I print. But little by little I'll improve in this great discipline that is woodcutting. I'm grateful to be able to learn this wonderful art with the teacher Gloria Rojas. I hope you like this post. Good vibes.
Comencé a hacer las pruebas imprimiendo con la nueva matriz, pero siento que todavía le faltan algunas mejoras para que se imprima bien la imagen en el papel, tengo que seguir devastando con las gubias los surcos en la matriz para que se marque bien el espacio vacío cuando imprima, pero poco a poco iré mejorando en esta grandiosa diciplina que es la xilografía, agradecido de poder estar aprendiendo este maravilloso arte con la maestra Gloria Rojas.
