So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on our second topic for this week which is “SCIENCE TOO FAR”

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last one which was “SHOULD YOUR DATA BE PRIVATE?” This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us their thoughts on data and how the government handled it. There were only a few instances where having our data out there could be beneficial. But then, there are way more instances where it can be used against us.

We got to see the dangers of having our data in the hands of powerful people who could use it for whatever reason they saw fit. We all have a right to privacy, and we also deserve not to let anyone know the things that we prefer to keep to ourselves. It was an enlightening topic indeed.

For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w111e1 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.

    Featured Contents

HIVE AS AN EXAMPLE FOR DIGITAL PRIVACY by @terganftp

This author told us that emulating how open the digital world and incorporating it into our real lives would be for the best. Because if people were unable to hide anything, everyone would know them for who they are and they’ll be able to make educated judgments as a result.

NAVIGATING THE COMPLEXITY OF DATA PRIVACY & GOVERNMENT ACCESS by @george-dee

For this author, he told us about the upsides to giving the government access to our data. From voting to residency and other things, it helps to make life as a citizen easier. But the downside is having the data being used for selfish purposes or the data falling into the hands of the wrong person.

IN THE WORLD OF CENSORSHIP, I CONDEMN PRIVACY BREACH AND DATA LEAKS @aslamrer

This author shared with us how the government was using the people’s data for selfish reasons, like winning elections and whatnot. This was a gross breach of privacy and it shows how far these guys can be willing to go just to get what they want.

All of the above contents were supported by our official curation account lazy-panda with an extra amount. The first 3 authors will receive 100 ECENCY Points [ Sponsored By Ecency Team (@melinda010100) ] and 1 Hive SBI each as a reward next Monday. These posts were selected because of their special attention to detail and how they followed the topic. There were a lot of good ones out there, but we just could not pick them all.

But then, we have some honorable mentions which are listed below:

    Honorable Mention

PRIVACY AT STAKE: BENEFIT OF THREAT? by @michupa

PRIVACY IS ATTAINABLE BUT… by @hopestylist

DATA SHOULD BE PRIVATE BUT MONITORING IS ALSO IMPORTANT by @intishar

These are posts that were also found to be quite exceptional as well.

AND NOW, WE MOVE ON TO THE NEW TOPIC!

    Week 111 - Edition 02 Topic

    SCIENCE TOO FAR

*“Technology evolves every day and science breaks new records regularly. Not all of them are ethical and there are instances when we can say science has gone too far. Can you name one instance? In your opinion, where has science gone too far? And also, name a field where more science is needed but not really felt.”
