Spring Sun, Shadow, Hike, Moss, Heat, Landing Gear, Kraken Win - Tuesday

Cold mornings these days but once the sun comes up it quickly begins to warm. The weather said it was 15F but it was only 20F outside the house at dawn. The farm finally got sunshine blasting on the snow to try to melt it off.

It was lucky to catch this as the sun was melting the snow fast, but the deck had a cool look where the shadow was still holding the snow. It melted super fast as the sun moved and was gone in a few minutes.

While taking the boys to school I had noticed a tree on the hillside that didn't look like I remembered, it looked different. So midday I hiked up the hill to take a look and found that yes, the tree had tipped over during one of the recent snows but it had not moved a lot. It was already laying on its side but the snow had levered it farther over and pulled the root ball up out of the ground some.

Just next to the tree inside the animal's fence is a small boulder sticking out of the hill and it is covered in currently frozen mosses.

I climbed the rest of the way to the top of the hill then wandered over to the edge to look out over the valley. The river is pretty full with runoff but not flooding yet, that will happen if it gets good and warm and rains up high.

Back down off the hill I stopped into the greenhouse which had the sun shining on it and HOLY BALLS was it hot inside. I had my fleece on and was instantly too warm. I checked on things then stepped back out into the 40F temps outside.

I was watching the #BTC price during the day and managed to catch the dip where I stuffed some more sats away.

Midday I got out to the coop and moved a bunch of stuff around to make room for being able to shovel it out, which it seriously needs after the winter buildup. It is one of my LEAST favorite tasks around the farm but it has to be done. I'll use the trailer wit ha bed liner to transfer it all to the dump spot.

After picking the boys up from school I finally gave in and began working on the landing gear for my plane myself. The first thing was to get the surfaces ground down that I need to weld. I used the bench grinder to work the ends of the tubes and the back of the axle plates.

I have more to clean off the pieces as there is still paint that needs to be removed. The parts meetup well and I need to do some more light grinding to get them to sit just right. I'm going to have to devise a means of supporting the pieces so I can weld them together but that shouldn't be terribly difficult. I really need the axle to end up true so the wheels will have the proper camber and toe.

The Kraken played again this time against the Jets and it ended up being a rather good game. It was back and forth goal for goal until the Kraken pulled away and got the win 4-3. Just 5 points back from a playoff spot right now so here's hoping the teams above them all lose horribly the next ten games.

With dinner ready the boys needed to get their skates off and get ready and J had his hockey stick in his hand and he let it drop on the floor where it landed perfectly on the backside and laid there with the blade up in the air. Totally random.

Nicely the game finished early so we were out to soak at normal time and back inside not too long after 9.

Today is to be nice and sunny again but only about 40F, I have a short chiro appointment this morning, will work more on the landing gear, do lessons, likely shovel out the coop or at least get it ready to be, then I will have dinner ready early as R has wrestling practice this evening.
