It's The Little Things

    Why So Serious?

As Hans Zimmer's haunting score from The Dark Knight whispers through a cluttered room, it strikes me: it’s Friday, my work's wrapped up, and the leftovers in the fridge promise a no-fuss dinner. Yet, I'm ruminating—shouldn’t I be chilling with the weekend vibe?

Work Today: More Than Just Tasks

Today at work was surprising. I closed two cases outright. The third was less like work and lot like friends. I owe a shout-out to Dale Carnegie, whose wisdom I passed along to the 19-year old new guy. Wonder how he’ll find it.

Then, there was Chris from Ohio. What started as a routine support call about login issues flipped into a casual exchange about a love for sandwiches. After the fix, I just listened to him. He knew his stuff. He talked big about this place, Capriotti's. You couldn't argue with Wagyu beef in the sandwiches, even if you weren't a fan. Since he said one just opened near me, you already know what's next. Almost anything can connect us in the most human ways. At times I forget.

    Literary Interludes and Gym Reps

When I need a break from work, my sanctuary is my stack of books. From the New Thought movement strategies in The Science of Getting Rich, I learn abundance and gratitude. The stories in How to Win Friends and Influence People, are old but ring true. Each principle adds a layer to my perspective.

But it wasn’t all stillness. The gym called, and I answered, pushing through this Men's Health shoulder routine. Apparently, it got John Krasinski ripped. Here's hoping. I started with 10-pound dumbbells, and am onto 15's this week. Either they're getting lighter, or maybe I’m getting stronger.

    Reflecting on the Day’s Echoes

KOAN Sound is playing. View from Above, the song is titled. It fits while I review my revisions. As the song quiets, I'm thinking about the power of routine—how it shapes us, quietly but consistently. I even listen to the same list of liked songs on Spotify. Today’s routines had quirks and sparked joy, affirmed promises.

I might agree that discipline is freedom, but that's like saying work is fun. It might be. Or, you make it.

I want to scribble thoughts about a new strategy: to engage my community with HIVE. It'll have to wait. Leftovers warming on the stove want me to eat until there's none left. Still, I know It’s about building something lasting. No pay-to-play, just creating and connecting. I’m eager to see dinner and where this goes.

    Tomorrow’s Promise

And as tomorrow looms, "he gave us another 24 hours to scour after that paper". There's a birthday celebration in the pipeline—my dad’s. I've snagged a copy of The Science of Getting Rich for him. Is giving people books my thing now?
