A Hectic Monday at Work | Alive and Thriving on April 22, 2024

A hectic Monday

Being the single GP doctor on duty on Monday, I was super busy the whole duty hours (almost 12 hours in two shifts). In the morning shift of 5 hours and a half, I consulted 29 patients. However, in the evening shift of 6 hours, I had to consult 47 patients! Moreover, in the visa medical section, 69 people came for the visa medical fitness tests. I had to examine them as well.

Of those 67 patients in my chamber, one expatriate housemaid came with cut injuries to her right hand. I had to put 6 stitches to close the wounds. One Omani came with his right great toe's nail partial avulsion. I removed the nail under local anesthesia.

Many children came with tummy upset. A good number of children came with respiratory symptoms too. Similarly, most of the adult patients came with respiratory or abdominal issues.
